I didn't realize the UFL ratings were down 33% compared to last year. When will it fold?

According to David Rumsey of Front Office Sports, UFL viewership is down 33% so far compared to its inaugural season last year. Data provided by pro football writer Mike Mitchell indicates that the league averaged 666,000 viewers per telecast for its four games last weekend, the highest weekly average the league has secured so far this season. Unfortunately, that average still sits well below the UFL’s season-long average of 816,000 viewers per game last year.

But even with the slight bounce-back, the league seems to be in dire straights. Three of the league’s eight teams have already lost their head coach. Both Ken Whisenhunt and Wade Phillips departed their roles this week, and the Defenders’ Reggie Barlow bolted for Tennessee State less than a week before the season began.

Perhaps more concerning, however, is the quality of play. Through 12 games this season, only one has seen both teams score over 20 points. 10 out of 12 games have seen at least one team score 12 or fewer points. The UFL is not producing an attractive brand of football.

It's the LIV golf of professional football ratings wise.

More like the Korn Ferry Tour
A LIV comparison would imply they’ve managed to sign established stars… that couldn’t be further from the truth

To be fair 33 percent of that is like 35 people

Competing directly against the NBA and NHL playoffs is dumb. Their championship game is set to be played while the NBA and Stanley Cup finals is going on.

They started i think on sweet 16 weekend. That was dumb. Wait 2 weeks

I’m guessing they time it to optimize opportunities for the players to get invites to NFL camps while still having time to rest, but it’s not ideal for sure. I wonder if they could start it like a month or so earlier

LIV has an unlimited amount of money and doesn’t care if they lose billions. Without paying way over market share for PGA players, they wouldn’t have attracted any of them to their league. UFL has the have to make a profit or at least break even problem that LIV doesn’t have.

They are lower than the WNBA viewership numbers per game. Yikes

trying to play football during baseball/basketball season will never work.

I said Ratings wise. I know LIV has talent.

It is what the deserve for folding the New Orleans Breakers.

UFL should play in the South in the winter, or in the North during summer.
July is dog days of sports calendar, but it’s way too hot to play in the South.

I think I watched more of it last year, but I don't remember the schedule coinciding with the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs, and the start of MLB and NCAA baseball.
Who gives a hoot about a scrub football league with so much other top level action going on?

Shouldn’t the NFL be subsidizing this so the less talented players can play professionally too?

I watched a couple of games last year, it has good ideas but it's just not big enough nor has enough talent to be a player. If college football continues to shoot itself in the foot, I can see a world where UFL picks up some of the slack, but that's a pretty big gamble.

No one I know has gone to a game here in Birmingham. The local radio guys talk about it occasionally, between college spring training, NFL Draft, MLB, transfer portal, and all of the other topics. And I think that is only when they have Skip Holtz on because he's the coach of the Stallions. And this is the team that went 9-1 last year in the season and won the playoffs. It just doesn't generate a buzz this time of year.
