It’s storming the field becoming more common or just more covered?

Seems like it happens nearly every week now, anytime an underdog wins at home they are rushing the field. I feel like it used to be much less common and reserved for truly epic upsets.
Is this just because we didn’t used to have TV coverage and 1000 cameras for every single game so it wasn’t covered as much?
Anecdotally I grew up in BR and went to tons of LSU games in the 90’s and through my graduation in 2011, I don’t remember ever rushing the field. Maybe I just missed out

1997 was special for LSU because it was the first time they beat the #1 ranked team.
Now, it seems to be the cool thing to do. I do think that it’s okay for fellow students to celebrate the win with their fellow student-athletes. Although, I’m not sure how many athletes actually go to the classroom anymore.

I thought conferences had made rules against storming the field?

It was a big win for them. I wouldn't say I liked the outcome but I admire their enthusiasm.

Very embarrassing for the corndogs to storm the field after being OM. A mediocre team that has never won anything, in fact the only program in the west that never played in the conference championship. LSU is just 5 years off a natty, act like you've been there before, because you have.

More common.
It used to be reserved for huge wins and championships. Not anymore.
I have been going to LSU games since 1966 and the first time I can remember storming the field was Florida 1997.

I like the excitement of it but worry someone will get hurt.
It seems common for SEC players to hit a fan, usually a girl.

Just messing with my buddy who's an Oregon fan I texted him "act like you been there man" when Oregon rushed the field. Damnit if just a little later LSU acts like they've never been there and rushes the field with a win over a 1 loss 9th ranked team
Great win, but not rush the field worthy.

It's more common now than in years past.

It's much more common now! Back in my day (early 1960s when we had to shoo dinosaurs off the field before the game), ROTC cadets surrounded the field near the end of the name, facing the crowd and daring anyone to storm the field.

LSU has stormed the field three times in their past five home games against Ole Miss.
