Saw him at Shell Houston open years ago warming up for sudden death playoff vs Vijay.. firing up a heater. Shocking to see a professional athlete smoking right before a sudden death playoff.

Daly promptly found the water hazard and Vijay won the tournament

Who, among us mortals, has ever consumed 21 cigs, or 12 Diet Cokes, or six bags of peanut M&M's, during the time it takes to play 18 holes of golf.?

I know I've never consumed any one of those in a 24 hour period.

It tells me he tried to be health conscious at one time. It was probably when he was married.

When I was at my worst, I would catch myself having forgotten to eat during a Sat. or Sun. and say to myself, "Cigs, Diet Coke, and porn is no way to go through life."

JD started drinking Miller Lites when he was about 13 years old.

That’s actually stats from a practice round in like ‘08 at another tournament. They called out that tweet after it was posted. But nonetheless, still impressive practice round or not.

21 cigs over 18 holes?

That's just ONE single pack over 4 hours. He must be cutting back. Just a cig per hole? Did we ever see him with a cig in his mouth while hitting a shot like Arnie?

Ppl are always disgusted by the obesity problem in this country threads but glorify this guys lifestyle… I wonder how much better he could have been at golf if he took care of himself. It seems to me that he has just went full caricature of himself to sell some ugly pants and get cheered on by the trash.

If you're expecting any sort of day to day (or even minute to minute) consistency from Tigerdroppings, of all places, you're going to do nothing but drive yourself crazy and needlessly raise your blood pressure.

Just roll with it and enjoy the occasional chuckle.

Right, I think he has cut down on his smoking since the cancer diagnosis but still smokes cigarettes.

No idea how common it was in the 70s and 80s, but I would assume that besides Dustin Johnson when he’s partying, there are very few golfers on Tour who smoke at all, especially among guys like Tiger, Rory, DeChambeau, and the newest generation.

Well diet coke is over 99% water so I'm not so sure the last part is true.

No stress / No worries. Just an observation. The guy is obviously very talented to have kept his tour card this long in the shape he’s in. I just wonder if his career would have been even better if he took care of himself. I get cheering on a professional athlete that lives an every man lifestyle.

That’s really all it is. Speaking for myself, I don’t cheer him on because he’s fat. It’s like you said along with his VERY non-conformist attitude. He simply DGAF, and that’s pretty refreshing these days.

He’s in the PGA because he won it 30 years ago and the British Open because he won it 25 years ago… they probably should tap him on the shoulder nicely and say “don’t come back, you’re making a joke of the tournament”

Maybe let him hit the ceremonial first tee shot there
