Jose Canseco and Ozzie Canseco are identical twins, but they don't look the same

This is just something random I came across, but Jose Canseco and Ozzie Canseco are said to be identical twins, but I don't think they look the same. I can tell who is who every time.
If twins are identical, doesn't that mean they should look exactly the same?
Here are some examples... it's clear to me who is who:
This is clearly Ozzie:
This is clearly Jose:

No

You know they don't have to look exactly the same for their entire lives to be identical twins. People age differently.

Went to school with identical twins, everyone could tell them apart easily.

Alright, well I guess my question is answered.

They look exactly the same in this pic the rest they don't

No they don't. Jose is on the right. Their faces are still different
Either they aged differently due to environmental factors, or they are actually fraternal and it was just assumed they were identical considering that's much more common, they look very similar, and were born in Cuba in the 1960s where tests probably were non existent

Identical means that one egg was fertilized and it split. Fraternal means that two separate eggs were fertilized.
An identical twin has identical DNA. But that doesn't mean they will grow and form exactly the same.
A fraternal twin is basically a sibling with different DNA born on the same day.

No. Particularly not later in life with more cell mutation and environmental influences.

I tell women I'm Jose Canseco when I message them on Tinder. Then when I'm nuts deep later that night I say "Psych, bitch! I'm just Ozzie!" Oh, the looks on their faces...

Jose has said they grew up the same, ate the same things, took the same steroids in the same amounts, had the same workout plan, etc.
Are those are the kinds of environmental influences you are talking about?

quote:This, how much you look like your sibling isn't how they determine what type of twins you are. If you came from the same egg and share the same DNA then you're identical twins. If one of the twins was 300 pounds working a desk job and the other was 8% percent bodyfat working outside all day they'd eventually look quite different. And honestly I think the Canseco bros. look a lot alike.

I lived next door to Jose in San Ramon before he bought a place out in Blackhawk. This was 1990. Ozzie had failed as a pitcher and was trying to make it as a position player. He got called up to Oakland and lived with Jose for the 2 or 3 weeks he was in the bigs. I had a hard time telling them apart, and I never was sure which one I was talking with across the fence.
Ozzie got sent back down. Jose signed a big contract and bought a mansion. Problem solved.

Thanks for the middle school biology lesson though guys
