Look how awesome the field and goal posts and state-of-the-art turf came together for this professional sporting event in Lafayette (pictured in the tweet on right)!

The Louisiana Voodoo beat the storied Philadelphia Soul franchise, 53-18.

How old is that building? My Dad talked about attending events there in the late 50s-early 60s.

Whoever selected that arena for that game should be fired.

All things considered its pretty damn impressive that they were even able to get that game in. Supposedly the frames and Nets are supposed to be coming in this week? Considering they were kicked out of LC a week ago and having to pack up and move on short notice I have to give them credit. Not to mention the whole fiasco with Philadelphia Soul/Dallas Falcons.

I'm guessing with the late notice the Cajundome wasn't an option.

The rafters at Blackham are ridiculously low

So with all the rumors about the league and the team, they actually did play the game. Good luck to them.

Seems like you would have to worry about passes getting hung up in the rafters there.

No that’s not why

Basically this operation takes a giant shite on the legacy of the Tom Benson VooDoo

But hey if it’s the best Southwest LA can get good for them

They were scheduled to play a couple of games at Blackham even when they were in Lake Charles.

Lake Charles might have dodged a bullet. They saw the writing on the wall. That picture sure looks like an organization that couldn’t pay their rent.

Are there actually profitable arena league teams?

Don’t think I’ve watched more than five minutes since I was 12

Not correct. They were going to play 2 games at the events center at Coushatta Casino.

Once upon a time in the late 2000’s, Arena football was the real spring/summer league. ESPN made it a big deal and I think I remember Mike and Mike calling games.

Then what was the reason they didn't play in the Cajundome vs an old arena that has mostly hosted agricultural events since the mid 80's ?

The IFL has been around since 2008 and is home to former Arena teams in the Arizona Rattlers, Iowa Barnstormers, and Jacksonville Sharks. They also have former AFL2 team Green Bay Blizzard. The leagues 3rd oldest team is the Sioux Falls Storm who were founded in 2000 but were always in the smaller rival leagues to AFL.

There are also a few other regional leagues but those smaller ones seem to be in a constant state of flux.
