How does Nico ever even show his face in Dallas after all this.

My question is as soon as it was made known he was actually in the building & watching from near the court is how was he not physically assaulted by someone?

I don’t understand how that guy can walk around town and not get assaulted.

Man this is Texas. Ain't nobody walking around Victory Park or Uptown or mostly even Downtown assaulting nobody because people know this is Texas. It's just not wise.

I don’t know how Dallas fans recover from this I’d be beside myself

Here’s how I feel.

I’ve gone from 90% of my tv consumption being sports related before the trade to roughly 1 full game worth of A&M basketball (bits of the two tourney games) and the last 5 minutes of Houston/Florida after the trade. They didn’t just kill 30+ years of Mavs fandom, they made stop caring about all sports almost completely. I’ve gone from watching every game live or recorded for every major Dallas team to zero. I quit watching A&M bball until the first round. I didn’t even bother w/A&M baseball and I can’t remember the last time I didn’t watch all of the Final 4. I can’t even watch the Stars b/c they play in the same arena as the Mavs and it just pisses me off all over again to see the AAC.

If this had happened during the CFB season there is a good chance I would have stopped watching A&M football and a 100% chance I’d have quit making the “various games” threads. I hope I’m over it by August but I honestly don’t know if I can bring myself to care about any sports as much as before. The Mavs were the only thing to ever challenge Aggie football as my favorite thing to watch and to see them self immolate for no fricking reason was too much to take. There better things in life to do than pour your emotions into something that can be torn to shreds by arrogant assholes who are so stupid they just did the NBA equivalent of Ruth to the Yankees so a dickhead can fund a play.

Relax, Aggie.

Solid melt, though. 8/10

I'm telling you the majority of this city is not like that. Are we pissed, yes.

Have we stopped watching sports?

Come on, man.

Ive been MFFL since the Nash days when I was in middle school, and I haven’t been able to watch a game since the trade. The ownership just makes me sick, and it sucks to feel that way because the roster is still full of talent, and everyone seems like good dudes. It’s just doesn’t feel right after the trade.

my brother.

I think I’m 1 or 2 years younger than you at most, and the Rangebaws are the only club I can watch with a semi clean conscious. and the Stars haven’t even done anything wrong. I just don’t care anymore. I’m sure it’ll pass with time, but…it’ll be a while

Some have a different perspective on the way they handle things. I’m not like that, but if that’s what someone chooses to do then so be it.

Nico signed an NDA with Silver over this trade. I’m convinced.
Nico's contract with the Maverick's organization surely includes a nondisclosure clause or three.

Look man Nico killed something in me and my guts are still pretty molten over it. I hope the Lakers win it all this year just as a middle finger to those shits and I hate the fricking Lakers.

I’m glad you posted this

I’ve been really curious how the diehards were taking it because I’ve never had anyone that great play for any of my teams; except Drew, and it would be so unfathomable to trade him to the Cowboys or the 49ers in the middle of the night that I can’t even properly imagine it

I’ve seen you posting here for years and I think I’d feel the same way if I were in your shoes. Maybe the most unnecessary self-inflicted gut punch in sports history and it’s really only the fans who suffer

I grew up adoring dirk and the mavs, and was in the building for game 5 of the 2011 finals.

I will not support this team again until Nico is fired and current ownership sells the team to another group.

Just unbelievable how quickly they tanked this franchise.

That unconditioned fat frick just torched you while all your fans cheered him on and chanted to fire your GM.

This not the Mavericks I grew up loving, shits sickening.

Can you stop acting like you speak for all Mavs fans? If that were the case, you wouldn’t have seen all the Luka jerseys or “Fire Nico” chants tonight.

Am I still a Mavs fan? Yes. I’ve rooted for them my entire life.

Is it significantly harder for me to root for them with the same passion? Absolutely. I can’t blame people who don’t have the same fandom I do for leaving ship. It’s an absolutely appalling trade and the most embarrassing decision a sports franchise has made in a century.

You said you’ve watched 4 NBA games all year so let’s not pretend like you’re some diehard Mavs fan. It’s an absolutely outrageous trade and fans have every right to be pissed off.

I can do that for y'all, sure.

Let me be clear, I'm not even a real Mavs fan. Basketball is wack to me.

I am a Dallasite.
