Wouldn’t be surprised if he wins one a year for the next 3 or 4 years.

It couldn’t be a better spot for him to knock off another one next month. Now a grand slam champion, playing well, always wins Quail. He’s going to be a huge favorite.

Again, he shot 73 with multiple doubles and ended up in a playoff with someone who started 7 shots back.

He won, but only because he barely managed not to lose it again.

Dude, he hit one of the worst wedge shots I’ve ever seen by a pro on 13 and then yipped every putt from 15 on. Including missing a 4 footer for the win on 18.

But for all of those absolutely God awful shots, his 7 iron on 15 and the wedge in the playoff were just as good.

What Rory comes out of this? The one that very clearly feels the pressure, or does that lift off of him with this win and he goes nuclear?

Barely. Maybe he’s over the final round meltdowns. Today didn’t really prove that, but he managed to hold on in spite of it.

A Masters winner and career grand slam winner.
That’s the Rory that comes out of this.

The Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde routine he was doing on the second 9 and playoff was one of the craziest rides in the history of sports

It’d be like Steph forgetting how to shoot in the NBA Finals, then drilling contested 35 footers to get back in it, and then doing that again 2 or 3 more times before the game ended.

Of course. So now the question is, can he get 3,4,5 more and end up in double digits and really be an all time all time great, or does he not win any more and end up unarguably the best player of his generation but in a tier below Jack and Tiger, etc.

In case you forgot, he didn’t win one for 11 years and had some pretty epic meltdowns in that time

How many professional golfers do you think wish they had barely won the Masters today.?
Some of you folks are just out of touch.

By shooting 73 with multiple doubles and ending up in a playoff with Justin Rose who was 7 shots back.

That doesn’t exactly scream “in control”.

He dominated the tournament. His previous 3 rounds of excellence allowed him to buffer the pressure filled Sunday he had to work through.

And he won.

He shot even on Thursday after double 2 of the final 4 holes.

He played great on Friday and Saturday.

He made 2 doubles in 3 holes to end up 7 back after Thursday and pissed all over him self (mostly) for the last 6 on Sunday.

He won, he has the Grand Slam. Nobodies taking that from him. But anyone with a brain and two eyes watched what happened today, and it’s pretty clear he didn’t overcome the demons he came into the day with.

But maybe today did that for him, what he does next time he gets into contention in a major will be must watch tv

So when they list the winner of the 2025 Masters, will it be shown like this:

2025 - Rory McIlroy*

*Barely

Or maybe:

2025 - Rory McIlroy (But just barely)

He had to play extra golf and go into a playoff and still won

I wouldn't to be surprised to see him reel off multiple majors the next 5 years.

He played the last 6 one over par and hit some horrible shots coming in, including having the putting yips.

There were a dozen posters saying the back nine was irrelevant and he brought like 5 guys back in it with a horrible, horrible shot on 13.

But he won. So now the question is does he continue to get nerves in these big spots or does this free him up and he becomes the stone cold killer he has the talent to be.

Rory finishing his career with no more majors, or like 8 more are both realistic possibilities in my mind. If he proves this kills the nerves for him, he could end up Tiger or Jack level in the history of the game
