No doubt about that. I can't stand awards shows, but I will never forget Ernie at the ESPYs giving his most outstanding sportsman of the year trophy to Stuart Scott's daughters.

It was the Emmys and since you reminded me of it I just watched it again and thanks for making me shed a tear early on a Saturday morning

Damn, the wife is cutting the onions real early in the morning.

As i have stated for past 8+ years on here, i LOVE Ernie, and think he's one of best, and grossly underrated.

He should be talked about, when it comes to sports media/journalism,etc, like costas. He is on that level.

That freaking Ernie is a boss.

Wish we could all be as unselfish as this guy

I agree and Inside the NBA should be talked about as one the greatest sports shows of all time. Hell maybe even studio shows in general. You see so many networks try imitate what they have and they all miss something that can’t be replicated. The fact that when you watch them you know they are truly brothers in every aspect, so when you see something like this happen to Ernie you know that Chuck, Shaq, and Kenny are there to lift him and his family up. It really is beautiful

I don’t think I can watch that. Ernie is such a great man. Very sad that he and his family have suffered this loss.

Didn't Ernie know he had the degenerative condition when he adopted him as well?

He did. I remember I think SportsCenter had one of those Tom Rinaldi pieces with Ernie and Michael on it. He would take him to the Atlanta car show because the kid loved cars. Ernie would get him out of bed and shave him and brush his teeth. Very moving clip if you haven't seen it. Ernie and his wife gave this kid a life filled with love and its amazing amazing story. I feel so bad for them...

The early signs of autism were known, as were some of the other issues. I believ it wasn't until they were stateside that the full diagnosis of everything was concluded. club foot, cleft palate, and more were to come.

He wasn't supposed to be able to ever talk and his prognosis was to live until his late teens.
