Did anyone actually think Fields was going to be a great QB? I never did.

I do expect Stroud to be very good if he can get even an average OL

I’m glad people have finally realized Fields isn’t an NFL QB

Ohio St has been producing shitty NFL QBs for years. They do a great job of producing simplified spread offenses that rely on elite OL & WRs that shred college defenses with an athletic QB

You can be a Heisman candidate at Ohio St, but you won’t be ready for the NFL. There’s too many examples to count.

Terelle Pryor (turned WR)
Braxton Miller (turned WR)
JT Barrett (never played an NFL snap)
Cardale Jones (played one NFL game)
Dwayne Haskins (not a good career, RIP)
Justin Fields (sucks arse)

I actually think CJ Stroud is really good and will break their streak of shite QBs, but Ohio St is not the place to go if you want to be an NFL QB.

Everyone laughed at Kirby Smart for not promising the starting job to Fields, which caused him to transfer, but it was incredibly obvious to anyone who watched him that he couldn’t play in a pro-style offense, and still can’t.

Fields being a bad NFL QB doesn’t absolve Georgia not playing him more

Fields was an electric college QB

They were the model franchise before Fields? Cut the guy some slack.

They've had one winning season in the last ten years.

Once again, people have a terrible memory of what actually happened

In 2018, which was Fields’ freshman year, Jake Fromm was actually having a very good season.

He had 30 TD to 6 INT and was #3 in the country in QBR behind Tua and Kyler Murray. He was probably the best QB running a pro-style offense in the country.

Fields played as a specialty QB as well as a backup, and he looked super talented, but it was incredibly obvious he wasn’t reading defenses well enough to start in Georgia’s pro-style offense. Which was fine since he was just a freshman.

Throughout 2018, Kirby Smart said it was “an open competition at QB”. At the end of the year, Fields wanted to be guaranteed the starting job. Kirby obviously wasn’t gonna do that, so Fields transferred.

One year later, Fromm was struggling under the worst OC in Georgia history, while Fields was putting up video game numbers with Ohio St’s offense.

Of course, everyone was like “Reeeeeee Kirby chose Fromm over Fields what an idiot!!!”

No coach in their right mind would guarantee a starting job to a freshman who’s accomplished nothing over a QB who had just come off a great season and had played in a National Championship

In reality, if Fields had started for UGA in 2019 and played under James Coley with UGA’s pro style offense at the time, he would’ve struggled as well.

The Ohio State QB narrative is stupid. The QBs you listed played across three different offensive schemes. Fields is the only one that has played in the current one.

Called it in 2019 when I saw how Ohio State cleverly hid him in that offense.
