Tough 10 game stretch for Boston while trying to stay in the Wild Card race.

4 @ Astros
3 vs Dodgers

I found this extremely interesting. Average attendance per game in MLB is up substantially, with the Phillies leading the way at over 10,000 more per game over last year. Only three teams total are down.

What would you attribute that to? Pitch clock and rule changes speeding up the games? More teams in contention? Something else?

Much easier to go to weeknight games and get home at a reasonable time if you live locally.

I think the extra wildcard does help some. But mainly the pitch clock

Three of top 5 teams in avg attendance increase are all having good years after some not so good years. Then the the Phillies who were in the world series last year and so had an excited fan base and Cleveland who dropped ticket prices this year are also in the top 5. Then the fact so many teams have been in contention until late in the season contributes as does the fact games at many ballparks start slightly earlier than previously and that combined with the pitch clock means they finish earlier. But weekend attendance is up too so not sure how much finishing earlier is a factor. The Dodgers having really had much of an increase but Dodgers fans are true baseball people and so don't care for all the bullshite changes and substitute batter crap.

Does anyone else think the extra inning ghost runner rule is a travesty?

Of course it is. The 0nly thing worse would be a home run derby to determine the winner.

Yep. I would reluctantly be ok with it after three extras but to start it in the 10th is lunacy.

We are so fricking bad.

Can’t even touch Arizona’s bullpen after a break with the starter leaving.

We will miss the playoffs and I’ll have to test and purchase lots of rope to be sure I don’t swing for 2 minutes.

Not a chance Heim has 4 hits since coming back.

I couldn’t imagine taking the field for a first place team knowing you are a fraud like half of this roster.

I’d KILL to live in Wonderland like the Texas Rangers

the dodgers are probably going to lose to the phillies in the DS and my only hope when i put the gun in my mouth is that either L.A. or TTB is standing behind me when i pull the trigger
