I’ve seen Zach Mettenberger pull down several cigarettes. Not sure he counts though
Another LSU story:
Ryan Perrilloux was hammered, playing video poker machine, and ripping cigs at Daiquiri Cafe across the river about a week before the National Title game in 2007. He had a professional looking older white gentlemen with him filling the account on the machine

Jon Kruk. Had the famous quote “I’m not an athlete I’m a baseball player.” When asked about a professional athlete smoking.

I think it’s very rare among basketball and football players, American soccer players, and Olympic athletes. I would guess it’s most common among golfers, baseball players, and European soccer players.
Julius Jones did and Corey Dillon smoked a pack a day through his first few years in the league but eventually quit.
David Ginola smoked 5-10 cigarettes a day when he joined Tottenham and the coach and players were surprised. He recalls telling the coach that while no one else smoked, most of the guys got drunk twice a week and all had terrible diets
Zidane, Ashley Cole, Fabian Barthez, and Mario Balotelli all smoke daily.
I believe Gigi Buffon, Wayne Rooney, and Jack Wilshire do as well, although not heavily.

Forgetting the best of all time, Johan Cruyff.

Yeah he quit eventually but it probably played a role in his death at 68. I’m still surprised he got lung cancer when he quit by his mid-40s.
I bet a lot of pro wrestlers smoke. Clearly the Sandman from ECW. Also Randy Orton and I think Ronda Rousey does as well.

They need to go back to the long sleeve jersies.

For some reason, the Fresca bottle is the funniest part of that picture to me.

I remember being in the Saints locker room back in the late 70s or early 80s after a game and probably a third of the team was smoking. Of course, they had just lost to the Steelers so maybe that has something to do with it...

Used to love me some Fresca
