The Rockets problem is nothing new, they don't have shooters. Sheppard has shown flashes but he's not ready for prime time.
Even with their defense it's going to be a quick series if they can't figure out ways to manufacture points in the half court other than Sengun.
Rockets need more shooting and consistent playmakers, Sengun is their best facilitator, but they don't have anyone that can consistency get other teammates easy baskets in the half court.
That said, even with a sucky Houston offense, if Golden State can't keep Houston off the boards this series will go 7. Adams ate last night.

Yeah, 22-6 offensive rebounds is a crazy stat. Adams was a monster, but his injuries have made him a liability getting back on the defensive end. Sengun is a below average defender as well, so they're sacrificing a lot for those offensive boards having them both on the floor like that.
Also, Adams looked absolutely gassed at the end of the game, and he played less than 20 minutes. Will be interesting see how he holds up for a whole series.

Udoka is just limited. Houston should be dominating a half court type game. They can play Sengun and Smith together and play through them which would force Draymond and Looney onto the floor together and that would clog things up below the line for Jimmy as well. Problem is Udoka has never been able to adjust in a playoff series and seems to be stubborn to changing anything.

I fully expect a close game on Tue (OKC/Mem). No travel for either team. Familiarity (they never play same team back to back in reg season except once). Rested. Memphis has way more things to improve than OKC.

quote:Playing through Jabari Smith? What?? Have you watched Houston at all this season? Jabari Smith is a role player. He’s not someone you play through at all. And the Rockets play through Sengun all the time. He constantly gets the ball in the high post where he can facilitate or take it to the basket.

Houston excels when they can get out and run because they have athletes. They never dominate the half court game for one simple reason - they can’t shoot. If they could, this wouldn’t even be a series. But as bad as they can be at shooting the 3, they’re not usually as bad at it as they were last night. And the “star” player, Jalen Green, had a complete dud of a game. If they can shoot their averages and Jalen Green has any sort of decent game, this series could turn quickly.
It was interesting how Udoka went back to the double big lineup to dominate the boards in the 3rd and 4th quarter which got the Rockets back into the game and erased the 23 point lead the Warriors had. It was particularly interesting that he went back to it after he tried it in the 2nd quarter and it didn’t look very good and cost the Rockets the early lead. The game 2 adjustments from both teams are going to be very interesting to watch.

They weren’t able to speed GS up in game 1 and if they get stuck at this pace they’ll have to play through the bigs or they’re going to lose. Smith didn’t miss a single shot last night and got to the rim anytime he wanted because GS doesn’t have a matchup for him. Their regular season style is irrelevant unless they can dictate the pace of play and if the series goes longer it’s likely to trend more in favor of GS in that regard.

What game did you watch? They did. Green and FFV couldn’t shoot. They had plenty of open looks and they all bricked. Because Houston is a horrible half court team.

What game did you watch? GS held them to 10-15 fewer possessions than their average. And saying they’re not a great half court team is just proving my point or do you believe Kerr doesn’t know about this?

Was sleeping on this NYK DET series. Great game so far.

G1 was good too but experience won out imo. Detroit kind of relaxed and that’s all it takes to lose a lead.

Refs are rigging this for the Knicks
NBA wants its Lakers-Celtics or Lakers-Knicks final
Cavs and Pistons will be screwed in the East
OKC will get screwed out west

Miami making it to the finals a couple of years ago convinced me that conspiracy theories like this have no basis in reality.

Just seem shitty to me. Seen the Pistons get some calls as well. Looks like the refs are just trying to inject themselves into the game

No FTA's for the Knicks near the end of the first half is not something I would have predicted.

Does that Ivey guy even play for the Pistons anymore.

Gonna be interesting to see how they call the 2nd half.

Brunson is still a flopping bitch.

Yea, he’s doing it so much he’s forgetting to actually play ball. Knicks doing too much dribbling, not moving the ball. Last possession OG has McBride, who just hit a 3 from the same spot, wide open but instead of moving the ball he hesitates then takes a wasted dribble.
