NBA playoffs take too many breaks between games, too long

NFL playoffs: 28 days
MLB playoffs: sub 30 days
NCAAF playoffs: 10 days (used to be) but now 30 days
March Madness: 17 days
NBA Playoffs: potentially 64 days

Kills any buzz waiting that long. I think ratings would do slightly better if there weren't 3 days between finals games. 2 days max. Some of back to back home games could be back to back days. They do that in the regular season in the NBA. Every other sports carries out playoffs in same rest time between days as the regular season besides 2 weeks in superbowl.

The 2 days between games 1 and 2 are dumb but they love that Sunday prime time window (where you also have a potential game 7)

The spacing between games in the early rounds is fine. The Finals? Ridiculous

This generation of NBA players are soft. They can’t play 2 days in a row

They want the stars healthy. It would be different teams winning if teams played games 1-2 back to back, one day travel, and do it non-stop. That would require strategy, bench players, and less start power...equals less ratings.

Well the Dallas Stars just lost in the Western Conference Finals. Had they won both the Mavs and Stars would be in the finals. They play in the same arena.

The NBA and NHL playoffs basically run the exact same time period. ESPN/ABC has both finals this year. They aren't going to schedule NHL finals and NBA finals on the same night.

They’re trying to get rid of back to backs because it’s a worse product (and lots of players take rest days for one of the games)

Are you new to sports... Of course they weren't going to play on Saturday when the big time slot of Sunday is available. Some of you people just aren't very bright. It's about money.

How do you explain there not being any Saturday or Sunday games next week?

To set up a game 7 falling on Sunday. It's really not a hard concept to imagine.

The best part about the MLB playoffs is how they play almost every day other than one travel day. I love the 2-3-2 and those 3 nights in a row with a game.

Well they aren't thinking about the working man. I have to be in work at 7 on Mondays so I'm less likely to stay up and watch a game until midnight on Sunday. Needs to be on Saturdays where most of us can stay up late.. NFL tv ratings even proved they have more success with Saturday prime time games compared to most of the Sunday ones.

It's a stupid format. I'm not a NBA fan anymore (I will watch some of the finals), but they used that format not too long ago.

At no point should the "lesser" team have played more home games in a series.

You are also comparing a sport that plays 162 regular season games compared to 82.

Another reason for the 2 days off for travel time in NBA/NHL finals was travel between the Eastern and Western Conferences.

I'm using this example because the NBA and NHL playoffs are similar in this regard.

quote:

Following the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final at Amerant Bank Arena, the Florida Panthers will be packing their bags for the longest distance ever traveled by a team during the Stanley Cup Final, hopping a flight 2,541 miles to Edmonton, Alberta.

But after spending nine months to get to this moment, what’s a few more hours in the air?

“It’s all about recovery,” Verhaeghe said of the long flights.

The previous record for longest distance between two teams in the Stanley Cup Final was the 2,499 miles that separated the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins back in 2011.
.

So not much different than those Celtic/Lakers rivalry games

quote:

The distance between Boston (Logan International Airport) and Los Angeles (Los Angeles International Airport) is 2611 miles / 4202 kilometers / 2269 nautical miles.

The league should be incredibly pissed with how ESPN handled the Finals yesterday. Basically treated GM 1 as an afterthought to the Lakers being interested in maybe offering a guy the job. A job that is open literally every other season.

Sorry to disappoint you but they haven't played back to back days in the NBA Finals in decades. Nothing to do with soft players.
