Turns out she got a grad degree from one of the schools on the game she was officiating.
They pulled her at the half and replaced her with a referee from an earlier game.

How TF does this happen? Is no one tracking where officials went to school??
En-Cee-Eh-Eh can figure out a recruit had an extra jelly donut, but not this??

The NCAA changed one of the officials at halftime of the Chattanooga-NC State women's basketball game on Saturday because of a "background conflict." Tommi Paris was removed from the NCAA tournament first-round game and replaced by Angelica Suffren, who had worked the first contest at the site.
quote:
An online profile for Paris indicates she received a master's degree from Chattanooga. The NCAA asks all officials who are being considered for the NCAA tournament to disclose school affiliations to avoid potential conflicts. In this case, it wasn't disclosed.

Saints/Falcons once had a ref that played for the Falcons and the NFL didn't seem to give a shite.

She apparently reffed a game that state played vs Chattanooga earlier this year and guess what? We lost that game. This should be easy to remedy but the NCAA is incompetent

One wonders why the official herself wouldn't have brought attention to the conflict of interest.

Her day job takes place in a clown world. Normal common sense rules and ethics are a foreign concept to her.

Sounds like an official that needs to be fired for failing to follow rules about disclosing school affiliations

Sounds like the rest of our society who makes or breaks situations.
Want to lobby Washington? Become a politician. Really want to lobby? Leave that political seat later and work for Big Industry you once had to be "impartial" to.

You lost becasue a 28-4 team was better than your 22-11 team

Maybe she forgot she went there.

Any master's degree from Chatanooga is going to be a joke so maybe she like others never felt it counted.

How long has she been an official? I mean the NFL let California residents work a Rams-Saints NFC championship

This to me is way more troubling than school affiliation.
Whereas many alumni may go too far in trying not to appear partial to their school and overlook plays that may help their school, a DEI's sole strategy is to uplift everyone non-white.
By job, she hates white players from Chattanooga more than black players from opposing schools.

How does a ref not announce this when assigned?

why does it take til halftime to realize this?

You would think they could have made the change after the first quarter

Someone Google her. Found the LinkedIn. Took time to rub up the channels and get the replacement.
Tommi is a solid ref. Have worked with her a couple of times. Really shocked that she didn't disclose this.

The game against the SHAMS with the no-call not only had a former Failcant player, but a ref or 2 from LA. Nothing was done about any of it tho cause the NFL hates the Saints and has no integrity.

Female, black, DEI Strategist. No need to wonder why she didn’t bring attention to the obvious conflict of interest. She checks all the boxes of complete entitlement.

Lol we had a Bama alum in charge of SEC officiating.
We have a Bama alum currently working as the head of all CFB officiating for the NCAA, yet when we watch Bama do things like concuss a Heisman trophy QB with no targeting call, we are called pussies for pointing out the blatant cheating
