Need to do away with the 11 seed play in games

Just make all of the play in games 16 seeds. This allows 4 more smaller conference teams to play in the tournament. Losing the conference championship might not be a death sentence for these smaller schools.

Kind of dumb asking a 11 seed to play an extra game when almost all lower seeds don’t have to.

I disagree
The 16 seeds are automatic qualifiers who earned their way into the field of 64.
Make the 8 lowest at large teams play the play-in to get into the 64 team field.

When they went full on retard and expanded the tourney, this stopped making sense.

But March Madness is about emotions and not logic, so in that respect, it "makes sense"

That doesn’t add any more small conference teams, it just gives more at-large teams byes

The 11 seed play in games are the "last 4 in" from the committee. Anyone seeded under that are teams that would not have made the tournament if they didn't get their conference championship automatic qualifier.

They should do the opposite: eliminate the play-in for all auto qualifiers, and make all of these low at-larges play the play in. I think the tourney can survive with 10 SEC teams rather than 14.

But it wouldn’t make as much money

This is like being excited about your 6-6 SEC team playing in a bowl game.

Can’t prove in the regular season then you don’t deserve it. There are so many D1 basketball conferences. Would rather see a solid team from a small conference get a shot rather than rewarding a mid tier major conference school.

Get rid of play in games in general. 64 teams. No more, no less. So the SEC can only get in 8 teams. That's fine with me. The little guys make March.

It absolutely would. By the second weekend, it’s 95% a major conference tournament anyways.

The dumbest part of this is why certain 6 seeds play a play-in winner and some don't. Same reason why it's dumb with the 1 seeds.

Either get rid of the first games or add 8 more teams who play in the 16 play ins or 11 play ins
