That conspiracy to trade Luka and tank the org for a new arena doesn't look that crazy

I’m sure they will be met with open arms for public funding. I thought American Airlines was pretty nice when I was last there but it’s been a few years. I guess that isn’t really relevant though

I bet the life span of a professional sports venue would miraculously be a lot longer than 30 years if the multi billion dollar businesses occupying them had to build it themselves.

The Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, which financed the original stadium, still owes $1 billion on the development, and is not scheduled to pay it off fully until 2056.

A 23 year old stadium the county still owes a billion dollars on over the next 30 years and they're trying to leverage a new taxpayer funded stadium

Such a racket

It is. This has to be posturing to eventually move the team.

That makes it official, they are gone. No one can be that tone-deaf unless it's on purpose.

I thought the Vegas thing was crazy (and still do, but it looks like it might be true )

Mavs would come back as an expansion franchise I’m sure instead of a Vegas expansion franchise. Stupid

Next step is to propose an arena in a terrible location using taxpayer dollars to fund it. The Clay Bennett plan to get a team moved.

They are just using this as the excuse to move the team

It doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles but it is very nice. I’m not sure how they would do this without moving locations. There’s no room around there to build and then demo like they did cowboys stadium for example.

The conspiracy of them wanting to keep the team in Dallas but trying to pressure to get legalized gambling had them building a huge resort casino along with the new arena in Irving.

I would imagine 98% of the state legislature that oppose legalized gambling do not give a single frick about the NBA and neither do their constituents. For the 2% that do, trading away a beloved franchise cornerstone isn’t going to help your case

The Adelsons are much smarter than me and an NBA franchise is pocket change for them, but I feel there was a less complicated way to own a franchise in Vegas than this

Something touched me deep inside the day that Shreveport died.

Correct. The owners of the Sands casino in Vegas bought majority ownership from Cuban in 2023.

They bought the land at 114/183 in Irving that used to be Texas Stadium. The rumor is that they are trying to help get legislation to make gambling legal in Texas and they could build a casino/arena/destination there.

However they’re under so much scrutiny after the Luka trade, they’re saying no, not trying to move to Vegas… not trying to move out of Dallas proper, but do want to build a new entertainment district and arena and that’s why they hired the new CEO that took over after Cynt Marshall retired because he was in charge of San Fran’s new arena.

Eta: this is was sent to me from one of my well connected Dallas friends.
