Dying of alcohol abuse at 38. Holy shite how did he function enough to hold a job?
quote:
Former Vikings defensive coordinator Adam Zimmer’s October death was caused by chronic alcohol abuse, according to the Hennepin County (Minn.) Medical Examiner’s Office.
The 38-year-old, whose father Mike is the former head coach of the Vikings, was found dead in his home on Oct. 31. The medical examiner’s office reported Zimmer’s death was caused by “complications of chronic ethanol use disorder.”

Wow he had to be getting absolutely tanked. Sad

OOF. Choose cannabis folks.

That’s what I mean. To kill your body at 38 from alcohol is absurd. I can’t imagine how much he was drinking

damn, tough job to be doing drunk or buzzing. Maybe he was hitting the bottles at night

Didn't this board have like 10 pages about how he died from the covid vax?

He was probably waking up and drinking all day.
You don't pass away at 38 by just getting tanked after work. You'd be surprised how many functioning alcoholics there are walking around, doing their job everyday

Yeah he must have been one of those guys hiding his drinking, pretty much a functional alcoholic who was doing a good job at work and no one put much thought in it.
Having your dad as a boss for the last few years and being remote this year probably helped.
I knew a guy like that a few years ago. He was pulled over on a headlight problem and the cop saw nothing wrong with his driving. Gave him a BAC test bc he answered honestly about having had a few drinks, and the cop ended up calling another cop because he was certain that the breathalyzer was broken because a seemingly sober guy blew a 0.27.
He really cut down on drinking after that, which may have really helped his life expectancy.

How much you gotta drink to kill yourself? I’m worried

had a neighbor die in 40's from an alcoholic seizure. I know it's not the same thing but it was pretty shocking. I mean I knew he drank but apparently not that much.
you'd be surprised at how some drinkers can function even taking on an absurd amount.
I have/had family members' function at high level and knew they consumed too much.

I had a coworker that died in his 40s. Apparently it was from alcohol abuse. I had no idea, he hid it well. Lots of high functioning alcoholics.

Yeah.
I've never understood how it hasn't been decriminalized like basically everywhere.
I've seen firsthand how alcohol can destroy people and families and ruin friendships. I'm not trying to get too deep but it's way more toxic than some people will ever know/admit.

I’m a gin drinker so yes lol

basically, if you use booze to function than yeah that's when you are really screwed.
drinking a good bit at night is one thing but it sounds like Zimmer probably went way over than just that.
