North Korean Basketball Rules: Dunks are worth 3 pts, a 3 that doesn’t hit rim is 4 pts

The game of basketball continues to gain popularity around the world and the NBA has done its part in helping the game go global. They have done a fine job of taking the game to the Asian market, with the popularity of the sport at an all-time high in China, in particular.
As it spreads, it's not a surprise that different cultures want to put their own spin on the game and that is just what's happened in North Korea. The basketball league over there has some rules which will seem wild to any fan of the sport outside their country.
quote:
A dunk is worth 3 points in their league, while a three-pointer that swishes in without touching the rim is worth 4 points. There is a 1 point penalty for missing a free throw and perhaps the craziest rule of them all is that a made basket within the final 3 seconds of a game is worth 8 points.

The dude would beat Nicklaus' major record if he wouldn't be strung up in the gallows when he stepped foot on American soil.

arent koreans not as tall as other races? mot saying they are short but i dont recall seeing many 6ft+ koreans

if its harder because they arent 7ft tall then i could see these rules making some sense even if they arent needed

Would love to watch everything except the 8 points rule

Kim once dropped 100 points on 25 shots

Kim Jong Un has played in a semi-pro league over there for years, and has never missed a free throw in a game, and he’s constantly getting calls and going to the FT line.

Yao Ming was the result of deliberate breeding by China, I bet NK could churn out some 7 footers too

I wonder how they handle intentionally fouling bad shooters all game or fouling in order to come back? When you are losing a close game just start fouling and if they miss you can come back super fast. Of course with the 8pt end of game rule I guess that maybe that is the whole point.
