OKC has 10 first rounders and 4 seconds in the 2025-27 drafts (4 1sts in 2025). They've got the best record in the NBA and have 14 guys under contract for next season. Talk about an embarrassment of riches.

They can pretty much go get whatever veteran role players they want to compliment their young core over the next several years while still being able to add and develop young talent

To think, they'd have 15 if they had traded Luka

The greatest turnaround roster rebuild of all time.
The fact that they are already dominant with the amount of assets still in their tank is unbelievable.

They may not be there yet, but there is a law of diminishing returns when you get too many picks in the NBA. Only so many roster spots and other teams will eventually know you need to trade out of picks so you lose some leverage trying to package picks.

Still this gives them great flexibility to quickly move on from their mid players who get too expensive and keep the influx of cheaper young talent going (presuming they don't try to go all in for another super star).

You are correct, too many picks for too few roster spots. But they can sell picks or trade for future picks. Presti is great at getting value for anyone. The other day he took a player who he ended up cutting (takes on the salary) and got a 2nd round pick out of it for the favor.

Last year was a breaking out season. See what you got and run with it. Then they realized team needed another big. Goes out and gets Hartenstein. But IHart was hurt to start year then Chet gets hurt before IHart gets back.

Now with Chet coming back he can play around with chess pieces and see what he’s got. He also brought in Caruso who is a great defender/disrupter.

If they don’t win the title or make finals, he’ll have the ammo to make needed changes. Trade deadline made west even harder and many teams will be in the hunt. Curious to see Chet with IHart tonight, but they likely limit Chets minutes at first.

When KD left it really hurt OkC and Presti. I think he vowed to get back on top and build an army of picks as reserve ammo. He is great at finding talent too.

Another note, their coach is really great. He was in their G League and then got promoted up. He has basically taught all their rising stars from day 1, and I think that helps. They know each other well and he’s done great getting SGA to be so good.

No idea how far they go. They play D and can dominate that when they clamp down.

The too many picks is overblown. They’ve pushed beyond those issues. They have so many picks they can just overpay and it won’t make a dent.

Could’ve got Luka for a few of those picks and Chet.

OKC could have given up Chet and 9 draft picks for Luka, and ended up with easily the best backcourt in the NBA for 10 years, and likely the top backcourt of all time. OKC still would have kept 5 draft picks and retained the team that has been winning at a record pace.

Dallas still would have gotten more back than they got.

That's how bad of a trade it was.

They have enough picks to trade out and strengthen their roster while they are good and young. Also they may want to strike while the iron is hot and there is no truly dominant team in the league now.

That's all fine and dandy, but you don't know that Luka would want to resign with OKC

The only team that had a chance at Luka is the Lakers.

The dumbass GM pick a player he wanted and used Luka to get him.

That is so crazy to think about.

Thunder went 8-1 with Chet Holmgren and no Isaiah Hartenstein.

Thunder went 26-3 with Hartenstein and no Chet.

Thunder went 6-5 with no Chet and no Hartenstein.

Game 50 of the season tonight, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein will finally share the court for the first time.

I didn't realize it was "that" bad. Obviously those 2 are insanely important to playoff success.

76’rs had a lot of picks too with a good team and didn’t do anything with them.

The 76ers went all in on Harden and Street Clothes 2.0, Embiid.

Didn't work out.

In fairness, they were a crazy lucky bounce in from a contested shot by Kawhi from being a serious, serious problem in 2019.

But, I hate Philly, so lol.
