I don’t get why Ohio State fans are mad about that OPI. It was about as obvious as you can get. I’d be mad at the receiver for shoving the corner to the ground. He easily could have outmuscled him for the ball without that.

Smith is going to outmuscle most DBs. They were engaged off the line of scrimmage and Smith’s strength got him separation. Not sure it was even on purpose, just natural ability. There were some obvious DPIs on OSU that were rightly called, but this one was questionable and was compounded by the timing of it.

not mad about it at all. disappointed in our defense, across the board and especially burke. knowles better square this unit away or we won't even have a rematch with oregon in the ccg. i get that he didn't want to blitz all game long, but i think we only blitzed 3 times. it was obvious as the game went on that we couldn't get enough pressure rushing 4 and gabriel was eating our lunch and burning us deep. not sure why we kept it so conservative. if the offense is gonna torch you anyway, at least give yourself a fighting chance by rushing 5.

there were some gaffs on the offensive side, especially clock management, but the defense was atrocious.

They were hand fighting and both engaged each other. The corner was bailing to cover deep and was already off balance. It's questionable at best, and happened numerous times in that game alone that weren't called.

yep, cb engaged first. smith is such a big dude that it looked like a straight up push off, even though it wasn't.

It looks like it happened at 5 yards too, which is completely allowed if there isn’t a ball in the air.

Shouldn’t have mattered. Buckeyes got to Oregon’s 28 and didn’t even get a FG opportunity. Coaching malpractice.

Oregon intentionally had 12 men on the field to waste time. How very sporting of them.

Damn the more I watch the worse it looks. Next time he shouldn’t make it so obvious with the push off

The push was made BEFORE THE DAMNED PASS. Its never PI, even if its a DB making a push, you can maul a guy (without holding of course) as long as the pass is not in the air in CFB.

Ummm plenty of penalties against the defense called before the pass such as illegal contact and defensive holding.

Also, do you not understand that offensive PI does not require it to be after the pass is released?

They call it on other offensive players blocking the defender before the pass is thrown as well.

It was the right call and a stupid play by the WR. Unnecessary.

There is no illegal contact in NCAA.

Learn the rules before you go on another diatribe.

What isn’t questionable is the 7 points you get on your 1st possession. That was Oregon’s ball.

But you, of course, want to focus on a play where you felt robbed.

Oregon’s offense took the top off your defense. They ran for more yards and passed for more yards. No turnovers and a better 3rd down completion rate.

Oregon’s defense more than held their own without their best player.

Welcome to the new Big ten where you have to face someone else that isn’t a cupcake. You actually have to earn it.

100% agree, as I said on the thread last night

Ohio State's offense more than held their own down two starting linemen.

Getting beat over the top like that when we weren't even bringing pressure is inexcusable, but can be fixed with more disciplined technique.

Can't wait for round 2

That’s quite the take for giving up 467 yards.

Oregon won because they didn’t make mistakes and took advantage of Ohio State’s. Both offenses were great and both defenses were horrible.

What’s quite the take is talking about your #1 ranked defense with the schedule you’ve played so far. It wasn’t you but that’s actually hilarious.

Y’all fall into this every year.

Welcome to the the new big ten

They made plenty of mistakes and didn’t take full advantage of your mistakes. Something they better fix because there’s no doubt in my mind these two teams will play at least once more.
