Overall NBA Finals Stats

***Excluded all points scored in the last 5 min of game 1 and entire 4th of game 4, both were 30 point garbage time arse whippings where all important players were off the court...basically just the competitive minutes. The only players who lost anything significant were Hardy and Hardaway who each scored 10+ in the garbage time when it meant nothing.***
Doncic 146 pts, 44 reb, 27 ast
Irving 99 pts, 15 reb, 25 ast
Washington 54 pts, 31 reb, 7 ast
Gafford 40 pts, 22 reb, 2 ast
Jones 33 pts, 14 reb, 3 ast
Lively 28 pts, 41 reb, 2 ast
Green 24 pts, 12 reb, 3 ast
Kleber 9 pts, 5 reb, 1 ast
Exum 14 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast
Hardy 5 pts, 1 reb, 0 ast
Hardaway 0 pts, 3 reb, 0 ast
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tatum 110 pts, 38 reb, 36 ast
Brown 104 pts, 26 reb, 25 ast
Horford 35 pts, 31 reb, 13 ast
Holiday 72 pts, 37 reb, 19 ast
White 69 pts, 24 reb, 13 ast
Porzingis 37 pts, 11 reb, 1 ast
Pritchard 17 pts, 7 reb, 8 ast
Hauser 39 pts, 15 reb, 3 ast
Tillman 6 pts, 5 reb, 1 ast

Celtics were just much, much better top to bottom.
Celtics had 2 guys averaging over 20ppg and 3 more averaging over 10ppg. Dallas had Luka, Kyrie, and one more guy average right at 10. Celtic starters out rebounded Dallas starters by like 40. All 5 Celtics starters double digit assists. Dallas had just Luka and Kyrie.
Sam Houser out-scored every Dallas player off the bench plus one of the starters. Also out-rebounded 2 Dallas starters. Porzingis only played 3 of the 5 games and still outscored every Mavs bench player and one starter.
Dallas isn't terribly far away, but have to make a couple roster upgrades and dump a couple bad contracts to be able to make it back. And have to do it quick while they have Luka under contract and not completely broken down yet, because he won't have longevity in his career. Can't have Hardaway and Kleber taking up $40 million a year and average a combined less than 5 points per game during the playoff run.
Boston is set up to run it back next year, but then they will have to make some decisions...they will have 5 guys who will take up a combined $200 million once Tatum gets paid (which would make them the highest paid team in the NBA) and that's without even having a single bench player signed.

and Tatum played great D too, hmm
that is a head scratcher that a guy leads the team in pts, rebounds, and assists and plays good D and doesn't win FMVP

It’s about expectations. Same thing used to happen with Harden. He’d average like 26 ppg and 7 assists in the playoffs and lead all players in those categories but people would act like he sucked because he fell off from averaging 32 ppg and 9 assists during the regular season.
