Perhaps

Apparently not as in Kobe's face as the gif would imply.

All over my twitter feed. Offseason/preseason filler

I mean, in theory, Barnes could have thrust the ball in his direction, but whatever.

Russillo made a good point: it's not like Kobe took credit for "not flinching" the rest of his career.

I always thought it looked like Kobe was off to the side and Matt Barnes didn't fake it at Kobe.

But I was never positive about it.

Still shot doesn’t really prove anything. The side view looks like he’s still aiming it at his head

After he fakes it you can see he’s bringing it back towards his body, from the right

That's my thought as well, was someone just reviewing old overhead footage or something?

If you look hard, you can see the moon landing being faked in the background of that gif.

You also see a guy come in the frame after the pump fake meaning he could have just faked the pass to a cutting a teammate.

But knowing Barnes...i would assume he would have rebutted this at somepoint.

Barnes was talking about this maybe a month or 2 ago on espn. Said he was watching the play develop and didn’t realize how close Kobe was to the ball when he faked it, or something like that.

There's a video from above, too. He was faking the pass to someone who was cutting to the basket.
