The Miami Hurricanes are ditching the "turnover chain" for the 2022 season, first-year coach Mario Cristobal told the Action Network on Wednesday.

"It's not part of our culture," Cristobal said, according to a tweet from the publication.

What a move.

This is either gonna go extremely well, or he just lost his whole defense

The chain might be fun at first but that shite gets tiresome after a while.

If you lose a team over a silly chain, you have roster issues that need fixing anyway

I respect the move for the program, but that Miami fanbase will still wear the chains.

To be fair, they were wearing chains before the turnover chain was a thing.

The chain was awesome in 2017 when they were actually forcing turnovers and started 11-0.

But you can't rock a chain and celebrate when you recover a fumble when down 31-7 in the 4th qtr.

Mario was right in eliminating it.

No doubt about it.

He's the only guy who could leverage what he did when it came to the administration, boosters, Cuban business owners investing tons of $ into the program overnight.

Also, he's a recruiting machine. He doesn't sleep. His issue will always be Xs and Os but that's why he demanded a big budget for assistant coaches and analysts. Hell, they just hired Alonzo Highsmith as GM of football operations.

It also helps that they hired Dan Radakovich as AD from Clemson. I'm confident Miami will make the right move during this conf realignment stuff. If the old AD was there, Miami would be more likely to join the Sun Belt than B1G or SEC right now.

It’s a dumb gimmick. Cristobal is there to run a serious program.
