Main reason they tried to force the matchups was to get higher ratings as they negotiate playoff television rights moving forward.

It was a disgusting act but paid off in their minds with the ratings they got. Sadly shows everything that is wrong with this sport and college athletics now.

Even though the entire system is changing with 12 team expansion next year?

Committee got it 100% right.
FSU is not better than Texas or Bama.
Bama earned their way in by beating UGA

Same amount of people would watch if it was Michigan-UGA instead of Michigan-Bama.

Committee still got it right. Best 4 teams were in the playoff

How do you know?

And FSU lost their way in by … winning their conference? Being undefeated and beating two SEC teams? Not being Alabama?

Unfortunately losing their starting qb, it sucks but they were not the same team after that & would have lost 42-7 to Michigan.

You’re right, their second string QB probably would’ve gone 16/23 for 116 yards, a fumble and 0TDs

No way it would’ve been close

Basically his stat line against a far inferior defense.

Yea, I can only imagine how poorly their QB would have played.

Just imagine how bad his numbers would have been!

Something like “116 yards with 0 touchdowns” level bad.

Can’t have that in a playoff game.

There’s no way you believe FSU would have played Michigan as close as Bama did.

Y'all are clowns throwing out Milroe’s stats like that.

FSU would have lost very badly & yes ratings would have been terrible

Thankfully Milroe put up game breaking stats so no one would even have to worry about it.

I agree

The fact that Michigan got TWO passes for blatantly cheating blows my fricking mind

They cheated before the season (recruiting) and cheated to win games during the season (sign stealing), and only got a tiny slap on the wrist. shite blows my mind

It's incredible. Rodemaker put up the same stat line against...UF.

Why?

The QB position is the sole defining position in football.

If your QB plays terribly, even though the rest of your team is amazing, there is absolutely zero reason you should be in the playoffs.

Their head coach was suspended for 2 of the biggest games of the year & the players still won the game.

They’re the best team in CFB & the players deserve to win a championship

Um that’s exactly my point.
FSU didn’t deserve to get in.

I thought Florida St should have been in because I believe most deserving is a better standard than “best” which is subjective. But the idea that the only reason to take Alabama was “money” is conspiratorial nonsense for simpletons. They were a legit good team that won the toughest conference and their only loss was to another top 5 team.

Florida St is a big program with a large fanbase and national brand. If they were in the ratings would have similar. All the morons think Alabama is the rating mover the highest rated regular season game was Michigan Ohio St, Michigan is the rating driver
