Matt Cassel was 20-33 for 192 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT

He played in 107 games in the NFL and started 81 of those.

He can’t be any worse than Jake Haener

But Cassel was behind a 1st rder and had a former NFL coach in Carroll talking him up. Boyle proved to be a bum in college. Rodgers liked him so it makes some sense that's he'd follow him around as a caddie. How he's still getting work in the league, away from Rodgers, despite never being good is the real mystery.

at least Cassel was playing behind two Heisman trophy winning QBs in college instead of whatever no name QB was playing at UConn and Eastern Kentucky

Have you ever looked up the college stats for Montana, Favre, and Phil Simms? They aren't pretty.

They all played in a very different era of football than Boyle in the mid 2010s.

Regardless, Simms was the 7th overall pick in 1979. His college stats were:

5,554 yards, 32 TD's, 45 INTs and he never won more than 3 games in a season at Morehead State.

But it's not regardless, its the whole thing. Do you think a qb from Morehead St with those stats is going in the top 10 in the 2010s? frick no, cause it's a different era.

I saw him play for the first time yesterday and I can see why he became a NFL QB despite those unimpressive college statistics. Guy is very impressive from the eyeball test. First of all, he's absolutely huge. He has a body comparable to Josh Allen. Second, he has a cannon arm and was threading the needle on throws 20-30 yards downfield.

A QB from Morehead State with those stats should never go top 10 in ANY era.

Tim Boyle was a UDFA so what are we complaining about? The only reason he played yesterday was because Daniel Jones is no longer on the team, and both Lock and DeVito were hurt. He actually looked better than the others.

Jack Thompson got drafted 4 picks before Simms. His senior year he completed 50% of his passes, threw for 2333 yds, 17 TDs and 20 INTs. He was 9th in Heisman voting. His Washington St team went 3-7-1. It was a different time.

You're comparing a QB that was 3x All-PAC 8/10 and had to go up against the likes of USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford among others to a QB from the Ohio Valley Conference who didn't win any awards.. I get that it wasn't a "passing league" and QB's don't have the stats they do now and DB's played very physical.

Yes because he was 3 time all-Pac whatever and a Heisman candidate on a 3 win team with similar shitty stats because it was a very different era.

Did you write a book titled "It Was A Different Era"? because you're selling it pretty hard there, pal. If you want to get technical, Jack Thompson had 2K more passing yards and over 20 more touchdown passes than Simms and played in a much tougher conference. Thompson went 15-27-1 in his four years and Simms 10-26-1.

Maybe I need to for you to grasp that simple concept.
