Originally went to ND.
Stole a kids card, used it for multiple purchases.
Became a national story.
Left ND.

I do find it funny that If this happened today, the guy he stole the CC from would have canceled it after his first charge

Tired of the low-hanging fruit that is just cracking on "millennials" tbh.

Even more pathetic was when DG took nearly 24 hours to double down by comparing Luck to Alex Smith who... wait for it... is also a millennial.

Every time gottlieb’s name comes up I have to post this transcript from an ESPN chat years ago

quote:

Mike Indiana: How did your mediocre basketball career prepare you for a mediocre broadcasting career?

Doug Gottlieb: (4:04 PM ET ) So your mediocre life can prepare you for a mediocre afterlife...and by the way, which one of us works for ESPN... hey and next time...when I you say 30 minutes or less....get here on time with my pizza.

John (Notre Dame): Doug, I lost my credit card, where were you last night? SportsNation

Doug Gottlieb: (4:27 PM ET ) Ask your mom.

Johns Mom (Notre Dame): GOTTLIEB I KNOW YOU STOLE MY SON'S CREDIT CARD!

SportsNation Doug Gottlieb: (4:34 PM ET ) Ten years ago I made a mistake...and payed for it...18 years ago YOU WERE your parents mistake and they are still paying for

wonder if it’s deeper than physical injuries too

He just seems like one of those “snakebit” players. It’s always going to be something. He worked himself back up last year to stud status. If his main issue is just shoulder, remember how many careers that ends. We saint fans forget, we got the EXTREME outlier in Drew Brees.

Shoulders don’t play out like that for most people. Hell yes I’m sure drew worked his arse off, but so do a lot of guys. And they still aren’t right.

I don’t think Luck is done making himself millions of dollars.

there is nothing out there that has Luck making 30 plus million dollars a year over the very next decade. Combined with some endorsement dollars etc, he's not making up for 300-350 million dollars over the next 10 years had he continued to play football and be successful.

In reality, Luck just decided he didn't want to do it anymore. You can reasonably argue whether that's good/bad etc., but you shouldn't have to pretend that it is not the case.

Michael Jordan retiring is the most millennial thing ever.

Yeah. That's a reasonable comparison
Right, the decision makes infinitely more sense for Luck than it did for MJ.

Luck comes from money. He made NFL QB money. Sacrificing his health for more money would have been greedy and stupid.

There's the kicker, would he actually be successful?

I like this move by Troy. Hope Romo comes in and finishes it off.

Side note, I fricking love Romo as an announcer.

Because you’ve rehabbed yourself multiple times to take hits from NFL D-Linemen and Linebackers.

You and every person on this board could not even scratch the surface of what it takes to play NFL football mentally and physically at the highest level. Andrew luck wasn't the first nor will be the last to retire early because of injuries or Just loss of desire to put in the work.

Barry Sanders
Calvin Johnson
Patrick Willis
Gronk

That's just the one's off the top of my head without looking up more. Why is Luck all of the sudden the bad guy and everyone else was cool with the others.

As a football fan, I hate to see Luck retiring. As a human being, I understand it, because he doesn’t owe me or anyone on this board or any other sports board a damn thing.
