Justin Morgan informed the team last night that he's taking a job with Marucci.

Whoa! That's a hit to that program. Another chair open in the HS Baseball Musical Chairs game.

Prairieville hired Kade Keowen from EA. Prairieville would have loved to have Justin though, good coach and better guy.

He’d be a great hire for any of the high school teams that are looking, Marucci must be better I guess

Rich parents with a HS baseball team make your life miserable.

Rich parents at Marucci make you rich.

Preach! Probably make significantly more money with much less stress and headaches. There’s a reason that there are so many high school baseball coaching openings, and they seem to increase every year.

Marucci pays pretty damn well in the right role and seems like a fun job. Knew a guy that worked there in a more entry level job after college and he got to meet a bunch of MLB players and hang out with the LSU baseball team a good bit.

GREAT GUY. Met him when we were both starting our coaching careers almost 15 years ago

You're right, there are a ton of parents that think they know more than the coach and arent afraid to let them know how they feel.

Id have to think EA tried to get Morgan but couldnt compete with Marucci. Less headache and more money i know what I would do

You're exactly right.

The future is HS kids playing for 15U, 16U, 17U, 18U teams during the school year. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. But there is a lot of inertia in place for HS sports (dad played, grandpa played, etc) but eventually money will win out.

Once those floodgates open, the guys who used to coach for high schools will be able to name their price and have full autonomy over their roster. No school boards, booster clubs, or weak administrators to deal with.

In some ways it will be better but it will also create new issues. College coaches will hate it because there will be even less accountability for players as they develop.

The state associations like the LHSAA will be late to respond, but it would be interesting if they tried to pre-empt the inevitable by allowing independent teams comprised of students from multiple high schools. It would be a radical change, but it's already allowed in some states when numbers are low. The rationale here would be different, but it may be the only way to stop what's coming. And, they'd print money by hosting tournaments instead of watching it go to PG.

They announced a guy named Jennings, past asst coach there.

As of today, I know of EA and now UHigh with openings for head coach.
