IMO, if ULL wants a solid coach that will get the Cajuns to OKC, they're gonna have to pay at least $200,000. Glasco's salary is $170K + incentives and he was secured through 2028. Habetz was paid $183K + incentives when she retired last year as the ALA asst coach.

I get what you’re saying, but again, I don’t think we could come up with the money. Also, with NIL opportunities becoming a thing for softball now on the P4 level, I think we’re looking at OKC likely being a once a decade thing now for our program.

Hell, it’s already been exactly 10 years since our last appearance, and despite what the Lotief cultists believe, the game was changing before and has changed even more since Mike forced the university to fire him. More big money schools have decided to make serious commitments to softball, especially the SEC, over the past 10-15 years.

Problem is we don’t have that kind of money…unless we cut our stale men’s basketball coach’s salary in half, which I would FULLY support.
at least your stale basketball coach makes the tournament sometimes. Richard is a great guy but hasn’t done crap ever and we still won’t let go of him(I’m assuming) just because he’s a great guy. Very frustrating.

The McNeese coach would be a good hire. I personally would like to see Alyson Habetz take the job.

Either of these would be an upgrade

Not to mention with Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12. TT could have a good shot of winning that conference next year.

OSU and Baylor are the top 2 left but will also have the Arizona schools, Utah, and Colorado coming in. He can get Tech into the mix quickly though.

Don’t for a second think Tech doesn’t have money. I travel to Lubbock for work regularly and there are many oil boosters out there. They have very good facilities and in the new B12 can really do well without Texas and OU.

This is a true statement

they threw lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ at him. obviously.

UL Lafayette has a history of being cheap when it comes to softball. I think that was rectified a bit in recent years but I do not know if it is a lot better now. TT probably has more money.

It looks like he did take the job.

I did some controls work in Abernathy and stayed in Lubbock. It's really not a bad place though it would take a little getting used to for someone used to so much water around here. A guy in Abernathy did tell me there was a beautiful woman behind every tree but the problem was finding that tree.
I don't think he was right about the women but he sure was about the trees.

after 25 yrs as the asst coach @ ALA, Alyson retired in 2023 to come home (Crowley) and take care of her mom. During her tenure, ALA appeared in the WCWS 14x's, winning it in 2012, and runner-up in 2014. She's still young at 52 yrs old, just depends on if she wants to be a HC and run her own program, or continue taking care of her mother.

The wife of our stale coach likes to get on FB and Tweeter and attack Cajuns fans who voice any criticism or believe it’s time for the program to move on from her husband.

I enjoy going there. It’s come a long way in 10 years. It’s fast growing and the climate is much better. Also not far to NM and CO mountains

Texas Tech was getting better with Craig Snider as the head coach. He just got married to a former Penn State assistant coach and they both were hired by Tennessee last week as assistants. The former assistants Chris and Kate Malveaux were hired as co-head coaches at Auburn. Snider is also moving much closer to his home, and getting to coach with his wife was big for him.

The Big 12 will look a lot different next year: Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Baylor, Tech, Okla State, Kansas, Iowa State, Houston, and Central Florida are now playing.

Colorado, TCU, Kansas State, West Virginia, and Cincinnati don't play softball.

I know Snider, Glasco, and Landreneau, and Malveaux and all are good softball coaches.

Feels odd for him to finally jump for Texas Tech. He had to have gotten better job offers in his time there.
