That’s how the first base coach for the Rockies AA team died.

But I believe he was hit in the neck

RIP Mike Coolbaugh. Great dude.

I may bash sports officials (and for good reason), but this is terrible. Prayers for this ump!

Mike Coolbaugh. Minor league base coach got hit with a line drive in like 07 or 08 and died from it

Happened in Little Rock in 2007 against the Travelers. Led to MLB requiring helmets for base coaches a few months later.

I kind of thought I was going to enjoy watching that, but then I actually didn't.

That said, I still kind of want to see Dick Hantak step on a landmine.

I'm friends with his BIL, and have met him a few times. He shared some stories about Angel Hernandez and some former players. Hope he's OK. Good guy.

Coolbaugh played for the Rangers, right? Was teammates with Pete Obrien, Kenny Roger's, and Hough to name s few?

Angel Hernandez was hated by every umpire, and was a racist POS. He was a typical DEI hire, that was fixing games from organized crime figures. MLB knew about it, but were afraid of him suing, and the damage to its integrity. So thats why he never umpired in a world series. That was MLB middle finger to him. Lloyd Mclendon, Don Zimmer (dead) , and Paul Loduca were many degenerate horseplayers in the league, that went broke. He said most players don't get tested for coke or speed, because of the union protection.

Hunter Wendelstedt used to reside in Madisonville. Not sure if he still spends the offseason there.

If you're afraid of getting sued by Angel Hernandez when you have hours upon hours of film and dozens of available witnesses then you need to fire every lawyer in your legal department.

Wikipedia says he umpired the WS in 2002 and 2005. He was horrible either way, never heard about the game fixing thing.
