Umpires are ruining the game of baseball

It’s beyond time for AI umps. Strike/ball calls are so egregious that they change the entire game.
An outside corner strike called a ball leads to the pitcher having to throw a meatball for a 2 run double.
No man should have that much power, especially since we will never know if the umps bet on games.

I agree. The home plate umps at Auburn were dog shite.

I can say that both okal/auburn series had umps that had a huge zone.
Posted on 4/16/25 at 9:02 pm to SeekGreatness
especially with the spin pitchers are putting in pitches these days.
not even reasonable to expect humans to pick that up.
I hate the people who defend its “you want to take the human element out of the game”
No, the fricking players are the human element.
The Umps are the “we had no better way of doing this before” element
“but framing is part of the game”
it shouldn’t be.
The game will adjust fine. Catchers will focus on receiving and throwing guys out.

I’ve seen too many games where the ump had a tight zone for one pitcher and a mile wide zone for the other.

Yep...sorta takes the bat right out of hitter's hands when they get an umpire with a mile wide zone.

It’s infuriating. Ppl were complaining about Jones expanding the zone, but it was the ump that was calling high and outside strikes. That forces him to swing at that garbage.

Arkansas against Skenes in 2023 was the worst I've seen to now. These umps in sec play have been shite.

Right. Once you've seen this repeat over time, there's only one obvious conclusion and (like most things) it begins and ends with money. It's an inconvenient truth to many fans as well as myself. I would love to believe in the fairness of contests. But that's just not how the world works. No longer many true sports contests, but instead we have "events".

What would lsu fans have to cry about if they couldn't blame the umps/refs. It's what they do so why change that.
