When u do dribble? When u take an extra step or two…or three or four? Is a crab walk a violation?

So true…if a name like James or Harden thats a given..3 steps

A violation that is hardly ever called anymore even when blatant.

it depends on which player it is.

So true. Saw a highlight of a Kobe dunk where he caught a pass at the timeline and dribbled the ball exactly once before dunking.

Add in a movable screen to it

Or Curry, unless he does a stepback + 2 steps. My favorite is when he dribbles, gives a pump fake, dribbles again, or takes another step, and people act like he made this great move. Anyone can look good if they can take four steps, or double dribble with impunity.

Has this happened more than once in his entire NBA career?

says the guy that was probably never any good at basketball so he can't comprehend what he's seeing.
It's called a hesitation dribble. Your hand is barely touching the ball as it comes up off the dribble, and you make it look like your going to start your shooting motion. That split second is enough time to make the defender hesitate or start to come forward, and when you're quick it makes it easy to blow by the defender when they hesitate.
It's not a walk, or double dribble, or carry. It's called practicing your craft to an elite level.

Now imagine him holding the ball.
That might get called but you never know because traveling is a rule that has an unwritten rule that it is not a rule.
What's disappeared is the importance of the pivot foot, once anchored to the floor to avoid walking, now can treat the floor like its lava and hop backwards all the way to the goal while carrying the ball like its groceries.

Oh bullshite. The ball comes to a rest in his hands. Thats a double dribble

Jordon was the first I remember consistently getting away with traveling. He would pull up his dribble way out from the basket and slam it and many of his best one on one plays into the paint were a result of sliding and lifting his pivot foot.

Double dribble all day; anyone who knows basketball knows that's a double dribble.

Bill Russell never walked.

When you put the ball under your arm and take off like a running back.

He's not palming it, and he's not putting his hand under it.
I tried to dumb it down for you so you could understand, but I get that it's hard for those who dont' understand elite basketball skills to get what's happening here. His left hand is barely on the ball, and letting it travel up giving him what looks like more time "holding" the ball. The key to the move is getting his chest up, which makes the defender go up as well. Then you blow by them. I've already taught my 10 year old how to do this, yet idiot stubborn refs act just like you, like it's an impossible feat to do without double dribbling. They are so dumb they actually think he's touching the ball with both hands, which he is not. They all say the same thing, "it looks like double dribble to me", which i have to respond with, "well it's not, but thank you for the compliment"

I MIGHT watch a few min of an NBA game again, if they'd actually call the infractions correctly. It's that big of a deal to me.
Rampant traveling, double dribbles, moving screens, etc etc.....no thx. I'll do something else with my time. Can't stand a lack of fundamentals.
Get off my lawn.
