What NFL teams of the 1990s win a Super Bowl with a true #1 Wide Receiver?

My brother who is a sports columnist was interviewing for another newspaper and was asked this.

Thought this would be a good topic for this board.

By true #1 Wide Receiver not someone like Jerry Rice or Randy Moss but a tier below like Herman Moore.

1998 Vikings needed one more #1 receiver to put them over the top I think

Would have love to see Dan Marino with a Randy Moss in the 90s

Strange question but the Steelers made a super bowl with Yancy Thigpen as the #1. A great wr might have put them over the top. I'd like to say the Dolphins too, but the whole team was riding on Marinos arm and a WR wouldn't have improved the rest of the roster enough.

What I mean is not the #1 or #2 greatest wide receivers of all time who just happened to play in that era.

Someone who is still a true #1 wide receiver but not the best to ever play their position.

I think if you add “what NFL teams of the 1990s WOULD win a Super Bowl with a true #1 WR” your post would be a lot easier to understand

1993 Cheifs.

Old Montana led the team to the AFC Championship game, where the Bills blew them out. Their leading receivers were Willie Davis and JJ Birden. No TEs of note. A good receiver would have had a massive impact.

They probably still get beat by the Bills or destroyed by the Cowboys. But they would of had a better shot..

Not a chance, everything has advanced now. Athletes are better, schemes are better. It was only the mid-90’s when the Steelers started the done blitz that reinvented the wheel for how to play D. And they did it with a strict 3-4. Nowadays the front 7 - if they even have 7- are almost all hybrid players. Offenses have advanced so much just in the hurry up alone, the 90’s players would be lost trying to comprehend what’s cooking.

He was with the Saints in 1992 and the Steelers practice squad in 1993.

Might have helped the Steelers in SB XXX.

1999 Titans for sure. They had a punishing ground game with Lorenzo Neal clearing a path for Eddie George, solid OL, good TE in Wycheck and McNair was a dynamic playmaker in his healthy prime. The WR corps was a platoon of 3's however.

They still came up one yard short.

Not with Neil O’Donnell throwing passes straight into the hands of the Dallas secondary.

95 Chiefs too.

Lake Dawson and Willie Davis.

They probably don't beat the Cowboys or 49ers but I think they could get past the Chargers since they beat them twice that year in '95. 13-3 and lost to the Colts on 3 missed FG in a divisional round.

A better receiver probably wouldn’t have mattered. Montana was knocked out of the game early in the 3rd quarter. Chiefs beat the Bills earlier that year.

That’s was the year a became a Chiefs fan. I followed Joe to KC.
