Did any of y'all play lemon or johnny owens?

I remember walking into that owens gym and it was like a movie.

They were good. Think that was the league after biddy.

Played against Jason Maravich in Covington in the Covington Elementary Gym. We didn't win.

As I got older, we played our games at SSA.

I played way back in the mid-70s.

In those early days it was only the New Orleans Metro and Lafourche Parish.

Teams that I remember were

NORD Lakeshore
NORD Algiers
NORD Uptown
NORD Downtown
Kenner
Harahan
Thibodaux
Raceland
Lockport
Larose-Cut Off
Galliano

Both my boys played for Thibodaux biddy basketball all stars, from ages 8 through 12. Every year, both boys, we ended playing JPRD West Bank to get to State.Walking into their gym was like walking into the Boston Garden, all those State championship banners hanging around the court. Intimidation wasn't close to describing that feeling. Remember playing Skyler Green as a 12 yr old, assigning our best, fastest player on him & he ran circles around him & our whole team. Told his coach after the game, a blow out, there was no way they could lose State & he replied " "yes, but I'm having to hide him from the gangs & police, both are after him."

I played it and loved it. Was very excited when I found out that my sons' recreational park participated in Biddy Ball. Was fun reliving these experiences from my childhood.

Same. I was a very good basketball player, but nowhere near as good as my teammates in Biddy.

Made it to Nationals in Puerto Rico the year that St. Bernard parish won it all. Their best player was a big white kid. Loved to know what happened to him. This was 1980.
did his brother become parish president?

The travel baseball stuff is ridiculous. My nephew is playing 7 year old coach pitch travel ball. His aunt (my sister) is traveling across the state for coach pitch baseball.

I did. Time of my young life. Those weekend tournaments were so much fun. Of course they were all in my home town, and the couple of towns that surrounded us.
