Why Don't NFL players wear Neck Rolls anymore?

With all this concussion issue which is often caused by whiplash...just like a car accident.

One is not like the others

I wouldn’t be surprised if that increases the likelihood of or increases the overall damage done by a concussion.

Because it makes you look slow

Because they are not safe, the advent of dolphin collars and hitting with head isn’t as prevelant

Butterfly’s and Cox Collars are better and safer. But Cox Collars are only meant for specific reasons. If the nerve damage Cox had was diagnosed now they’d never let him play.

Butterfly’s are sweet. Kickers should start wearing them

Concussions aren't caused directly by whiplash. They're caused by the brain hitting the skull. A neck roll doesn't prevent that.

Tyrell Fenroy tried to bring it back.

Because no one tackles with their head up anymore

But they obviously do cause concussions. All the time.
Car Accident concussions which is the most common non-lethal injury - are caused by whiplash. A neck roll like a poor man's Hans device could help with a violent rolling back of the head on a hit.
It's not anything great but it's better than an extra 10 inches violently pushing your head back and straining your spinal cord.

Having your head hit directly by a hard object and your head snap back after an accident aren't exactly comparable when considering a neck roll, think about it.

Some greats in the game still do.
Take LSUPride's favorite player for example...
You sure about the whiplash thing? I see plenty of it in these gifs

Concussions are just the violent shaking of the brain inside the cranium.
They can occur via head to head impact or even violent body blows where the head flips back violently...like a car collision.
You don't have to hit your head on the steering wheel to get a concussion.
It's all about violent fast speed, neck movement twisted back.

How is a football hit a harder object than a steering wheel?
In fact, you are traveling at ridiculous speeds compared to human speeds...55 MPH vs. what? 15-20 MPH? THat's double the concussion probability.
There's a reason people wore this stuff. It wasn't just make believe science. Protecting the neck from being pushed back beyond nature...was protecting against concussions and spinal injuries.
And we've always heard that getting tackled was like getting into a car accident.
Sure it might not be the best solution...but if NFL players are going to keep suing, why aren't they even trying to protect themselves?
Half the players don't even wear knee pads.

They don't work.
I have no sympathy for nfl players. Almost all of them go without any pads in their pants, they don't wear cups, they wear the smallest shoulder pads imagineable, they skip the mouthpiece, and a ton of them wear poorly fitting helmets often due to their stupid choice of hair style. By God they'll get their ankles taped up so it looks cool, though, despite the fact that the tape is nothing more than an extra sock after about 5 minutes.
