Why is Blake Griffin's car dunk supposed to be so impressive?

I know this didn't just happen or anything, but I just saw it on a commercial like it was the best dunk ever. He didn't actually jump over a car, he jumped over the hood. He didn't do anything different than when he normally dunks...he always jumps that high. I think people are so fascinated with the fact that there was something under him, for some reason.

Is this one of the most overrated dunk contest dunks ever?

The car provided context.

Alot of NBA players can jump over the hood of a car and dunk a basketball

Jumping over any part of a car is technically jumping over a car.

I don't even consider a Kia a car. It's like a golf cart

I still think that dunking from the free throw line is one of the most impressive things I've seen a basketball player do. I still remember when I watched Jordan do that. Yes, people used to actually watch the dunk and 3 pt. contest back then. Strange, I know.

Crazy thing is Jordan could almost dunk from the 3 pt line

But Griffin has had some amazing dunks during the year. The dunk contest has lost all appeal due to there being not much left to see. This coupled with the fact that they only ever have 1 or 2 in it that you really want to see. I'd be all for a Griffin, Dwight, KryptoNate, Lebron contest. The star power has been seriously lacking

Ibaka's takeoff from just behind the free throw line was the impressive dunk that night.
