Kaare Johnson is an absolute assclown who only got a job in the first place because of his dad being a big man at WWL. (In more ways than one.)

Thankfully, I've avoided NOLA radio for the last 15 years but the mere fact that he's still on is testimony to how putrid it is.

is Kaare even considered sports radio though? I haven't listened to him in a few years, but it was business/politics more than sports back when I did

Have a soft spot for him due to the fact hat I spent many a night in the late 80's drinking with him. Great dude, his dad ( Phil Johnson of WWL TV) was a riot

The only parts of that lineup that you said were “good” were the ones from BR

And people in BR complain way too much about the sports radio. I lived in NOLA for a couple years and it was far worse. I lived in Dallas too and it was way worse, way too much national focus, not a single mention of college sports ever. Too many national shows syndicating

People in BR don’t realize but we have it really good with local sports talk almost all day, and most of the shows are unique and consistent. Station signal is top notch with the two broadcast stations and the Hd station. Yes the opinions of the radio guys generally suck, but at least everything else is pretty high quality

Dallas sports talk radio is good. Especially when they want to fire Garrett.

Does WWL still talk for five minutes and then run ten minutes of commercials?

No.

They have upped their game and gone to 3 minutes of talk and 20 minutes of commercials

I like how they had a high school sports show during the season on 100.3 which was like a commercial for De La Salle... Or the games all involving crappy South and Central Lafourche.

Kaare Johnson is back doing sports raaaaaaaaaaaaaaadio? Or does he still fancy himself an obJECKTIVE political analyst? Does he still have friends on the Right and the Left?

Does he still favor having to pay to drive into Orleans Parish? When I stopped listening to him then years ago, once he jumped completely into the tank for soon-to-be President Obama, that was one of his policy suggestions: toll booths on every road crossing into Orleans Parish to solve the city's problems. Make every non-Orleans citizen pay to enter Orleans Parish.

I would say the sound quality, voice quality of Moscona, and the pacing and segments on his show are on pace with the top local sports shows in the country. I have head alot of them too.

People on the rant just melt about him though

Big Chief is gone.
I have stated in recent weeks, with Charles Hannagriff seemingly having lost his nerve, that if he moved to New Orleans, to WWL, he would instantly be the best in the market.

Buddy Diliberto had a speech impediment, but he knew the king's English, was a writer, a real writer and journalist who had the skins on the wall when TV went and got him like Hap Glaudi. They had chops, they had experience and know how to report and write sports. It's one of the reasons, the guys we have now are so much less spectacular even with slightly better diction and articulation.
