Why is Russell Westbrook considered a first ballot hall of famer?

He does have world record triple doubles. Other than that…..HE SUCKS. Not a team leader. Never has been. Turnover machine. Shitty three point and free throw shooter. Leads the league consistently in turnovers. He actually hurts the teams he plays on. Will NEVER win a championship. He is a loser. And he never learns a fricking thing.
I’d never vote him in the hall of fame.

Answered your own question. He has done something no one else has ever done.
I mean dude averaged 31, 10 and 10 in a single season. No matter how you feel about him, that is an unreal stat line.

Basketball HOF is much easier to get into than Baseball and Football.

It doesn’t take much to get into the hall of fame for basketball.
His gold metals in the Olympics and his MVP is all he needs and that was likely over kill

He's an MVP (Derrick Rose will be the only mvp to not make the HOF)
Averaged a triple double for a season
Most triple doubles in the history of the league
Was a top 7-10 player in the league in his prime.
Russ has many faults no doubt, but Russ deserves to be in more than the likes of Mitch Richmond.

Why is it unreal? Oscar Robertson did it already and came close to doing it multiple times.

Other than that little incident that happened in the Second Act, how did you otherwise enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln?

Big O has said before he could have easily averaged a tripled double for his career if he wanted to. He wasn’t stat chasing for triple doubles. It wasn’t even a thing to get a “triple double” back then. Complete media fabrication.

Westbrook , with his uncontested rebounds , has done more to devalue the " triple double " than really impress anyone. His impact on the game is nowhere near Magic, Lebron, Big O , etc....despite his numbers & questionable bball iq.
No hot take. I'd take Jason Kidd over Westbrook without hesitation.

Yea but Russ didn't do it against potatoes.
On another note, Russ can eat a dick.

Big O did it in 1963. The league has changed significantly, and it is MUCH more competitive now.

Because he plays for the Lakers now duh

I don’t think that is controversial. The athletic is doing a run down of their top 75 all time with all
Sorts of their writers voting:
Westbrook was 46
Kidd was 36

Issue with Kidd is that his teams only finished top 10 in Offensive Rating five times in his career with three of those top 10 offensive rating seasons happening with prime Dirk as his teammate. It would be like a QB who played 20 seasons in the NFL leading his team to a top 10 offense only five times in his career. Yeah, his teammates might have been garbage and his coaching might not have been the greatest but an elite QB shouldn't have any problems leading his team to a top 10 offense regardless of the situation more often than not. Same with a great PG in the NBA.

You know, he used to be very good at FTs
NO idea how he slipped so badly

Being in the HOF doesn't require you to be a top 10-ish player of all time

Kidd...in the HOF. This isn't even a hot take

Bc he had to change his routine. He use to walk all the way back to half court between each one. Not you have to stay at the line. Also there is a time limit now.
