Why is the NFL playing in Brazil? NFL tells teams not to wear Green due to gangs.

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs said the NFL told players not to wear green to their Week 1 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil.
"You know, they said that the part of Brazil we're going to, you can't even wear green at," Jacobs said on Thursday's episode of Green Light with Chris Long. "They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff."
Jacobs continued: "They said, we're not going to Rio. They was like, 'Man, it's one of them places where they probably won't even let us leave the hotels.'"

The Week 1 matchup marks the first NFL game ever held in Brazil. It will take place at Corinthians Arena, home venue of the Brazilian soccer club SC Corinthians.
Jacobs continued: "They was like, 'Man, look, just pack black and white colors. When you come out here, we don't want no mishaps.'"
Corinthians have an "informal ban" on wearing the color green due to a rivalry with the green-clad Brazilian club Palmeiras, according to The Guardian. The ban is taken seriously enough that Corinthians fined one of their players for wearing green cleats during a match in 2021, per Reuters.
International teams playing in the stadium have previously worn the color while playing in the stadium in the form of green numbers or green jersey trim, The Guardian reported.

But Jacobs said the league's warnings had left him unenthused for his overseas Packers debut.
"They probably gonna have, like, armored vehicles following us," Jacobs said. "I said, bro, Why are we out here? Why are we here?'"
"... I was looking forward to it. I'm like, man, this 'bout to be a fun week. Telling us all of that, they like, 'Yeah, nah, it's not gonna be like that.'"

Yeah, but a small coterie of dudes in suits will get a little bit richer from this. Why would Jacobs be so selfish?

Brazil: it’s dangerous to wear green in sao paolo.
Roger: perfect. Eagles/packers it is.

I hear next year they’re planning a four team round robin and are adding the Jets and Seahawks.

Because of Palmeiras (rival soccer club). You don't walk into A Casa de Povo (Corinthians stadium) wearing green.
I wouldn't do it if I was going to a Corinthians match but they'll be fine for an NFL game.

Has anyone told Brazil about their nation’s flag?

How exactly is a game between Philly and GB not going to feature the color green?

Have they revealed the uniform colors yet? Curious to see what they come up with

I would think it would be Eagles in all black and Packers in all white

Lol, they chose the perfect teams then, if green is not a good color for players or fans to be wearing.

I thought it had to do with a local rivalry, not gangs?

Sending teams whose primary color is green to play where they shouldn't wear green is a great move by Roger.

This says it’s about the team rivalries not gangs.
Wearing Dallas colors to Philly and getting beaten up over it isn’t due to gangs.

Packers probably going to rock these monstrosities.
ETA: And Brazil is full of Packers fans, so I'm sure they're going to be fine wearing green. Something to do with TV down their showing mostly Packers game during the prime Rodgers years creating a lot of GB fans in Brazil
