I do not see anything coming on Paramount tonight.
1883 is a Paramount+ exclusive the episodes that came on the Paramount network family were just teasers.

Question... What direction are they heading I thought they were going to pass through indian territory... Oklahoma. If they started in the southern part of Ft. Worth why are they crossing the Brazos river when Ft. Worth is north of the Brazos. What did I miss?

They are heading for Lubbock, which is crossing the River basin.
The hot daughter told the German tailor that she could spend the gold in Lubbock (or was it Abilene?), either way, it’s crossing the basin.

Todays episode was bad in my opinion. Very slow like most episodes of Yellowstone this season.

The opening scene of ep 1, where the girl takes the arrow through the gut. What do you think is going on here? The guy laying on the ground, where she gets the pistol from, is that her boyfriend Ennis? Where is everyone else. Did she and Ennis decide to go off on their own?
And a couple episodes ago on Yellowstone, they show James stumble back to their cabin, John looks to be a teenager, and you hear Faith Hill scream (screech), like James is dead. Is this the end of that story (James’ story)? The daughter was not there.

Slow?
The river crossing was epic! Great scene as the daughter was playing the piano.

I dont think they've shown the daughter in any of the flashbacks

I’m guessing you meant to say “don’t think…”
That is correct. It’s only been two boys.

I found myself annoyed by the length of the piano song. A lot of inconsistencies in that river too. Some folks wading across and walking out while others flounder over their heads.
Also looked like 10 feet down river it was 6 inches deep.

Abilene. I originally thought they meant Abilene, Kansas (Chisholm Trail) but there is no where to cross the Brazos from Fort Worth to Abilene, KS. It would have been the Red River they crossed. I wonder if that’s a mistake on Sheridan’s part.
Also, on the road west (behind the scenes special) Sheridan mentions James is Johns great great great grandfather which contradicts Tim saying he’s his great grandfather.

You are not going north to Kansas from Texas, to get to Oregon. That would leave you crossing the Rockies at it’s most widest part. You go south of the Rockies (New Nexico, Arizona), basically, the future Route 66 or I-10. You can’t go north to the Dakotas and then cross west, because the winter will kill 1/2 the people.
Basically this route (the red). This has them crossing Brazos basin and putting them near Abilene, TX.
The blue was stagecoach Route (already on the map). The green and red I added myself. The green is basically Route 66.

They are possibly heading for "The Oregon Trail" that was made passable for Wagon Trains by the 1850s.

I thought so too but episode 4 made mention of passing through the territories which I took to mean Arizona and New Mexico territory. My guess is the Santa Fe trail is the way. Doesn’t make sense to me though because the Duttons eventually end up in Montana so the Oregon trail would be the best route there.

I thought they were avoiding Arizona and New Mexico territories because of desert? Too, if they’re planning to herd cattle along the way then desert likely isn’t going to afford much opportunity for beef to graze.
I always understood it as going to Abilene and then up to Nebraska which would imply Oregon trail. While they obviously get snow in northern Arizona and New Mexico, they keep making mention of winter coming which I took as Northern Territory winters.
I enjoyed episode 4. With regard to river crossing inconsistencies, the whole theme of the show thus far has been about shepherding these people who know nothing about survival across a land they’re ill equipped to manage mentally and physically. Hence the emphasis on “we can’t swim because it’s a crime where we are from” and “don’t let them reach you on your horse because they’ll pull you in; that’s what panicked people do.”
I’ve thought the show has painted a realistically bleak picture of just how much was sacrificed and chanced for a place nobody had even seen and how the land wasn’t really meant to be traversed but pioneers found a way.

My old work territory was Fort Worth down to San Angelo to Abilene. Nice to see it getting some visual shots. I love that part of the state. Some great beauty and hunting
