They’re going to ruin it.
Even now, as an adult, I still love those books and have had a great time revisiting them with my kids.
I won’t even bother watching this version.
You don’t need to be religious to appreciate the stories, but if you strip the Christian themes out of Narnia, it stops being Narnia.
And sadly, they’re sure to dishonor the legacy of a great man.

when you know who Aslan represents, this makes sense for an ardent feminist.

They won’t be subtle. This modern group of writers have no talent for subtleties

The only thing I ever took from this dumb frickin' story is that Turkish delight is apparently worth selling out your family for.

Of course they are. If nothing else, they will race and/or gender swap characters.

They have a desperate need to make their mark on something. They don't realize is just making an amazing product and/or faithful adaptation is far more impressive and usually more memorable. It is just more difficult, so we get stuff like this.

Hear me out, I am just spitballing here. Maybe magic Turkish Delight represents the biblical concept of sin, which over-promises and under-delivers, leaving us with an insatiable appetite for more and causing us to do destructive things in the pursuit of that sinful desire which has hijacked our better judgment.

Besides... didn't they already do a non religious Naria... The Golden Compass, which was basically anti-Narnia... that bombed?
Well the author of His Dark Materials (Northern Lights/His Dark Materials) is a straight up atheist and that is completely anti religion. He's stated that his stories are about killing God.
I never watched the movie The Golden Compass but I did give His Dark Materials a go on HBO just because I had read the books. First season was actually good. Stopped at the beginning of season 3 when they legit had two male ANGELS kiss. Gay angels. Really?

Golden Compass is largely forgettable. Not bad per say, but not good.
His Dark Materials, season 1 was really good (besides Maranda being Scoresby), agreed. Season 2 I thought was still very solid. Haven't started season 3 yet.

I'm betting this is an April Fool's joke

They can’t even do April Fool’s right?

These stories already had plenty of strong female roles. Lewis had girls sword fighting each other before most writers, but I guess that wasn't good enough for Gerwig.
She's cashing in on the can't miss Barbie hit. Otherwise, she is pretty overrated. $100 says they don't make it through all of the books.

Gerwig has claimed she has "deep reverence" for the source material
Aslan is a lion- the Lion, the great Lion." "Ooh" said Susan. "I'd thought he was a man. Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion"..."Safe?" said Mr Beaver ..."Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.
There is absolutely zero question about this.
Race swaps are one thing but this is just blatant disregard or ignorance of the source material

Seems likely. DiscussingFilm, CBR, and others are just reposting the Nexus Point News article. That original article cites no one, not even anonymous sources. None of the trades or the more discerning outlets are reporting this or even mentioning it as a rumor.
You know the saying: if it looks like bs clickbait, and it smells like bs clickbait, it's probably something that will be taken at face value without question by the M/TV board.

What kind of fricked up accent will she do?
