2018 series from AMC. I caught most of the 1st season, and then sorta forgot about it. When I tried to watch the rest, AMC had gone subscription, and I wasn't going to sign up for just one show.

Anyone catch it on first run? Thing I remember most about it was that lead actress was a bit of a smoke show, so I'll give it another shot.

Same here. Season 1 didn’t blow me away but kept my interest. Also wasn’t going to pay the sub fee to continue watching. Male lead was good, believe he was in the later seasons of Downton Abbey. Really liked the female lead, good actress and very hot. Excited to see where the story goes.

The second season is....different. I only watched parts of it, but I remember some time traveling?

Teresa Palmer is the primary reason I watched the first season

Re-watched first episode and remembered her crazy blue eyes matched exactly the color of her blue blazer.

Not sure if that’s some coloring effect or she’s just that WOW.

I’d forgotten how hot she was.

Speaking of witches...

Have not seen any commentary on The Mayfair Witches. I can guess as to why, but with Alexandra Daddario, I figured it was worth a look see.

Since it's on Netflix, and I'm already rewatching A Discovery of Witches, why not?

Not all that into Anne Rice or Witches in general, but again, it's got Ms Daddario, and revolves around New Orleans... f

Just not that much on right now that I'm interested in watching. There's other stuff I can switch too, if this doesn't keep my interest.

I loved Witching Hour but thought the books got progressively worse in the "Trilogy"...This TV version is an ABOMINATION. Takes all the potential of the expansive , intricate history and chunks it in favor of the "seductive demon" fantasy aspect.... Choppy plot development and gawdawful acting. Daddario looks completely checked out. A waste of time IMO.

They don't miss a beat in turning everything she does into a thirst trap.

Like when all Ciprien had to do was touch her, so he could help read her and she could control her powers. Just touch her on the shoulder? Nope, SHE had to gently tug on his glove fingers, and remove both of them, one by one, and then they cautiously clasp hands... FFS! Not a big deal but also silly and unnecessary.

SEK have you ever read discworld per chance? I only ask because Pratchett did a great job on a witches coven in his books

Generally not a fan of the witch stuff. I'll watch a good show or movie, but when it comes to reading things relating to 'magic', it's limited to Tolkien, Rowling and a few others.

I didn’t think the show was very good. Got bored with it pretty quickly. Daddario is pretty but her acting isn’t great. Clunky is maybe a good word for it. Which is a shame because the sets and location are great for a witch show.

We’ve been watching Discovery though and have enjoyed it so far. But I’m a big Matthew Goode fan so that helps. He’s what Bill should’ve been in True Blood.

It reminded me of Outlander in that it's got the bones of an interesting scifi fantasy show, but the trashy romance novel gets in the way.

Thank you!!

I started watching, told my sis in law about it & sure enough it turned into a Harlequin series.

I bailed & she got into it.
