Lee Cronin is writing and directing a new take on the horror trope revolving around the ancient mummified undead for New Line, The Hollywood Reporter can reveal.
The project was previously only known as a Cronin mystery movie that had been announced earlier this year and is now set for an April 17, 2026 release.
Horror powerhouses Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, along with Cronin’s banner Doppelgängers, are producing.
"This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before,” he said in a statement to THR. “I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening,”

So not based on the Brendan Fraser movies or the Ann Rice novel.

Should call it the mummies if there are more than 1. What is 1 mummy gonna do anyway? Everyone could just kinda avoid it.

I think a Mummy movie that felt similar to The Descent or As Above, So Below could work.
There is a lot of cool stuff you can do with it. But I feel like with a lot of these 'monster' movies that the monsters are so beloved that audiences almost want them to...."win", I guess you could say? And I'm not sure thats ultimately good for the films.

They made that, it’s called the pyramid. Pretty awesome movie considering how low budget it is.

I've always wanted an updated more adult horror version of
Less action-adventure & comedic undertone like the 99 movie had.
