No spoilers from me because I doubt anybody else caught it. Part body horror, part dark comedy, part psychological thriller with two excellent performances from Stan and the British actor Adam Pearson.
Much like The Iron Claw last year, A24 unfortunately has let this movie fend for itself. It peaked at 265 theaters but it’s now down to 100 after only a week. Would be great to see Stan and Pearson get nominations for their performances and one for Makeup, but A24 is putting all its eggs in The Brutalist basket, which is supposedly a masterpiece.
If you have a chance to see it, it is worth the admission. Most likely you’ll have to wait for it to stream on Max in a month or two.

Does A24 just see it as a double edged sword?
the more the put in marketing the more they’ll make but also the more they’ll spend?
they aren’t make huge effects driven action movies so it’s not likely they’re gonna smash hundreds of millions of dollars

I don’t know how they decide which films to promote and which to show to only twelve people. A Different Man and Sing Sing are getting overshadowed by We Live in Time and The Brutalist because they are favorites for the Oscars. Peaking at 265 screens for A Different Man is insultingly low.
They chose Zone of Interest to promote last year, but The Iron Claw and Dream Scenario still had full releases.

I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was outstanding though. I preferred The Substance if we’re talking weird body horror type movies. Although they are going for completely different things.

How Stan isn't winning every leading actor award for his performance in this movie makes no sense to me. He's fantastic.

Stan won the Golden Globe, but that will probably be all the recognition he will receive. It was for Comedy and the real contenders are in Drama with Brody and Fiennes. Pearson wasn’t even invited to the Golden Globes, let alone nominated. That was a bitch move on their part.
I really hate that A24 swept this under the rug in favor of The Brutalist. It was a similar situation with Efron and The Iron Claw last year.
