So Sandler finally came clean in what we all suspected for a long time: he makes movies just to go on paid vacations and get a nice pay check. he really doesnt give a frick anymore. I dont think this makes me like him any more or less, but at least hes not pretending.

quote:

In a segment that confirmed what many reviewers have long presumed and blatantly stated, Adam Sandler appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, where Kimmel asked him flat out whether his movies are just flimsy excuses for paid vacations. “Yes,” Sandler replied enthusiastically, secure in the knowledge that it absolutely doesn’t matter if he just admits, point blank, that he chooses his projects based on whether they include a trip to some luxury destination, because they are Adam Sandler movies for Adam Sandler audiences. “I have done that since 50 First Dates,” Sandler explained. “It was written in another place. I said, ‘Imagine if we did it in Hawaii, how great that movie would be.’ And they said, ‘Yeah, that’s a very artistic idea.’ I’ve been doing that ever since.”

Pretty sure I saw a segment of an interview he did wherein he said he's basically just going out and making movies with his friends now to have a good time and if the movie makes money, it makes money. I think it was for Grown Ups or something.

He stops short of admitting that his movies are recycled crap though. Again, its hard to blame him for putting out the same stuff because he brings in millions every time. The people to blame are the idiots who give him their money.

I don't blame him for it.

Angelina Jolie admitting that her role in The Tourist was basically for the same reason.

But nobody would call out her phoned in performances.

Got no problem with that. He owns it and doesn't give a frick. Good for him. And he's brought a lot of his friends along for the ride.

Really can't blame him. I mean I don't pay to see his movies, so the fault is at those who do. But as long as they're willing to pay...

I agree. And, to be fair, he's obviously making money for the studios so it's not like he's screwing anybody over.

Well, at least he's now being honest about conning America out of money. There's no way he put any more thought into his latest clusterfrick of a film than calling up Drew Barrymore and the rest of his posse if they just wanted to spend 2 months going on an African Safari and whipped that up in one draft over a weekend. He's just made so much money now that he doesn't care.

who is he conning? people know what they get in a Sandler movie. he doesn't make you think you get anything other than what he gives you. he cons no one.

Adam Sandler slides ever closer to his character in Funny People.

I think he tried to be a real actor a few times, got killed for it and didn't make that much, so he's retreated to the safety of Happy Madison, churning out crap for little effort and a lot of money. As long as I'm not forced to watch his movies, I'm okay with it. He's got a good life.

Hate on Sandler all you want, but the world is a better place thanks to Happy Gilmore, Water Boy, Billy Madison, and Big Daddy.

8 Crazy Nights is also really good, and 50 first dates is a solid chick flick

way back when Micheal Cain admitted he only did Jaws The Revenge so he could take a vacation in the Bahamas and get the money to buy a new house.
