All reality shows about families destroy the families.

How many of these shows that follow a unique family ever end with the family better off or even the same? Sister Wives are leaving, John and Kate crashed, and the Duggars have all kinds of stuff going on. Why do these idiots keep signing up for the nightmare to come?

I think part of it is that the people who would agree to do this in the first place are out of control attention whores, and another part is that all of them get shows in the first place because they're in extreme circumstances that would've probably destroyed them on their own. TV just accelerated it

I think it is because it gets other people involved.
Take John and Kate. John was fine with Kate talking to him like an idiot.
But
John was not fine with Kate talking to him like an idiot on TV where everyone he knew was watching.

These parents who have their YouTube channels (a lot of them are Mormons for some reason) that pimp their families out for YouTube fame and money seem sick in the head. The formula seems the same - white soccer mom with three or more kids and a "husband" who likely smoked a pole or two in his younger days.

Off topic, but I wonder how many couples break up after the show Alone. Your partner leaves you for a couple of months. There is probably a good bit cheating that happens. Also, they left you to go play wilderness. If they come back without the money I could see a lot of resentment.

He probably still would've grown tired of it eventually. Also they had a ton of kids and without the TV money they would've been really financially stressed which would've led to a different set of marital issues.

The families in these shows pitch themselves to networks. They’re inherently fricked in the head and desperately crave the attention. They’re sad, pitiful people. Of course everything goes to shite when that attention is gone.
I know a girl who tried to pitch her family and they’re fairly normal so god knows what kind of made up shite they would have come up with.
