Amazon Prime's Wheel of Time series has been in production for a LONG time. It was supposed to have wrapped well over a year ago but COVID shutdown production twice.

They officially wrapped S1 this week. Today they announced that S2 was officially greenlit and would begin production in just a few weeks, in June. This was pretty much known but its official now.

Amazon is doubling down on The Wheel of Time.

The streamer has renewed the fantasy series for a second season ahead of the launch of the show. It comes as production has wrapped on season one in the Czech Republic.

It is the latest market in a long road for the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s books, which has been in development in one form or another for 20 years and that Amazon ordered to series in October 2018. Like many series, production of the drama was also hit by the pandemic.

Disregard the descriptions of the plot in the story which is painfully off.

Rumors which are backed up by a ton of informed speculation are that the show will air in late November, probably on Black Friday.

Do they know this was the OG-Game of Thrones- in the, the author fricking died before the story could be finished because it took him so long to finish it and the author that did finish it kinda sucked, story?

As an aside...... ol boy couldnt put out the Winds of Winter DURING A frickING PANDEMIC WHEN THERE WAS frick ALL ELSE TO DO. We're never getting that ending and Season 8 is all we will ever have and i hate everything.

what. Brandon Sanderson is a great great fantasy writer, one of the best out there, and he did a really admirable job. Parts of the books he did were better than what RJ had done for several books. He didn't get Mat or Logain right but he did a lot of good things.

Anyway...please don't make this a GOT bitch fest.

Also...a thing the Showrunner has commented on repeatedly is that they have the benefit of a completely finished series. They know they aren't getting 14 seasons, so it helps them to map out the entire series (which they have done) and get it into 7-8 seasons, cutting out a lot of the total fluff and BS that Jordan added when he didn't know how to finish.

Its honestly a big benefit that the GOT writers didn't have.

Given your terrible writing skills, yours is one opinion that is rather meaningless.

Sanderson’s prose improved the final books. Granted, he didn’t quite get Mat as RJ had him, but it’s a tricky character.

It can easily, EASILY, be cut to 7-8 seasons at 10 hour-long episodes each and achieve the goal. There was a LOT of fluff in the books and frankly so many characters that you'd never keep them all straight.

My biggest question is what are they going to do with Moiraine? Rosamund Pike is the biggest name attached to this and they can't have the character just disappear for the middle half of the series.

The first season is 8 episodes. Its a really expensive series so far, and streaming series rarely last more than 2-3 seasons it seems.

So I would expect 8 episodes per year.

We already know that there will be some relatively major changes just based on what we know likely happened in S1.

It is what it is. Its an adaptation and that needs to happen.

SPOILERS.

It actually works out pretty well. Pike is a pretty big name at this point, so its probably why she chose it. She did move her entire family to Prague and is a Producer on the show. But having her commit to 3-4 seasons, then get a few years off and be able to come back for a season or so is probably really beneficial to her. I think they will likely bring her back slightly earlier than in the books.

I dont get paid to write. In fact, i dont get paid to do much these days so I certainly hope my prose, such that it is, sucks.

So my opinion is meaningless and you close your post proving my point? I hope you don't get paid to argue.

See, thats funny!

All joking aside, im actually excited about this development. Given what AS did with The Expanse I feel as though they will do well with the material. Any good Sci-fi/fantasy is welcome by me. Very hard to get quality in that space anyway on the big screen. Hell, Grown Ups 2 did better at the box office than Pacific Rim - which is why we cant have nice things.

What a stupid arse argument.

And for the record, Sanderson’s three books are superior to Winters Heart, Path of Daggers, and Crossroads of Twilight.

I thought Rosamund Pike was older. I was worried that she would be over 60 by the time the show wrapped, but she is only 42.

I'm only half way through the book series and loving it. It does get a little slow though.

Books 8ish-10, especially 10, are called “the slog”. They are slow. Really slow.

But it’s my all time favorite series.

I've read his first book Way of Kings in the Stormlight Archives. I found it to be a bloated slog.

And his writing is definitely on the "young adult" level.

It's nowhere NEAR the quality of the first three Game of Thrones books--the next two fall off and, well, there are no more.

Just my opinion. I've started the 2nd book "Words of Radiance" and I hear it's supposed to be better. We shall see.

damn man. it is crazy that A Song of Ice and Fire was published a few years after the first 2 Wheel of Time books but is still not finished.

Dance With Dragons ends with Daenerys meandering in the Dothraki Sea, Jon getting the shite stabbed out of him, Tyrion is being passed around as a hostage by random characters, Stannis stuck in a snowstorm, Bran talking to a tree, Arya goofing around in Braavos, Davos doing errands, Ramsay torturing people, Theon escaping and Cersei walking through King's Landing naked.

The story is very generic fantasy, it's just layered and layered and layered, and fluffed out with endless characters.

No spoilers:

-Light/Good vs Dark/Evil
-Female sorcerors are seen as good
-Male sorcerors seen as dangerous and uncontrollable/evil
-5 podunk teenagers go on separate paths to become legendary heroes
-Nynaeve tugs her braid A LOT
