AMC Stubs A-List is a great deal

Friends,
Perhaps I missed the thread about it here, but I have only recently secured membership in the best deal in cinema I’ve ever known. For just $20 a month I can purchase any ticket from AMC three times every week. Considering that IMAX features cost $19, membership essentially gives you 11-14 additional movies each month at no cost. Better yet, you pay no online fees and get 10% back on food purchases.
I saw Oppenheimer today, which was another ambitious but entirely overrated Nolan project. Then headed over to Haunter Mansion. Mother interrupted the movie, calling me to have me do some chores. The part I saw was great! It starts in New Orleans, with a history and walking tour, even with a scene at The Napoleon House. Mother’s call arrived just when they were beginning to talk to a Tulane professor. I may have to go back to the later showing tonight since I have one movie remaining this week (the week starts over Friday).
Here is hoping we can go to some theater movies together soon. With this program there is no reason not to do it. Movies are infinitely better in theaters than at home. In a time when people are so isolated and spend so much time alone in front of their TV, I encourage them to toss their TVs and join the new wave of social movie goers. The average American watches 140 hours of TV every month (how sad). Imagine if you watched just 20 hours of movies each month at the theater and spent the other 120 hours reading. Toss the TV, join AMC A List and expand your brain with books.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

I enjoy walking past the peasants in the long concession line.
Bonus points when the kids are with us and we take the whole party to the front of the line.

Like a fast pass, or pre-check line to purchase concessions?

Friend,
I was unaware of that line benefit. As a respecter of lines, it is a benefit I would not use for several reasons. One, moving ahead of someone who is already in line shows a disregard for their person and time. Two, time in line is a time to be social and interact with other fellow waiters. Three, the line allows us to practice a great virtue in short supply today: patience.
The father away we move from a society of equality in our lines and equality in our laws and admissions committees, the more we move toward revolution and anarchy.
Yours in line,
TulaneLSU

It's exactly like a fast pass system.
TulaneLSU, halfway jokingly, I really do enjoy the line skip, however when I do get to the front, I'm always respectful of the people in the peasant line. I usually do offer them to go ahead if I'm immediately called forward.
The AMC employees seem to always put the AMC stubs member as a priority even if you offer someone else to go forward before you.

Dead-on. I feel like I'm robbing the place since I prefer the AMC IMAX anyway. Now, I only sign up for A-list for 3-4 months over the summer when I'm guaranteed to see at least 2 movies a month. The rest of the year I use the regular AMC stubs - $15 for the whole year and I make more than that back in rewards and snack upgrades. Plus I can buy tickets online without the extra online fee.
I also graciously wave forward at least one peon from the loser line before getting my snack. I am, of course, a gentleman.

This has not been my experience.

I’m back on the MoviePass train now and love it.

We have had it for awhile. We stopped for awhile right after they opened it back up after Covid.
Yes basically if you do 2 movies then you have paid for the month.
We are going to see haunted Mansion tomorrow and we will see Talk to me on Monday night with our daughter.

We did A-List for a few years after doing the entire run of the first edition of MoviePass. A-List was the tits, but we got out of the habit and dropped it.
We went to see a movie at AMC recently without A-List and it was a nightmare. Huge service fee to buy tickets online so we bought them at the theater. Ticket machines wouldn’t work so we had to wait in line for someone to help us.
Next time we may just sign up for A-List for a month and cancel.

It’s a great deal but we only do it when they have a lot of great movies coming out. Usually it is a summer thing for us. The downside is the AMC closest to us (BR mall) has never upgraded their seating so it is old shitty seats that are filthy and do not recline. Hate going to that theater.

Just do Stubs Premiere. It pays for itself after 4 movies. The only benefit it doesn’t have, which A-List does, is the ability to see up to three movies per week.

quote:We were MoviePass early adopters. Their business model was based on members not seeing many movies and the sale of member info to other companies. When power users and easy access to buyer trends killed their cash flow they turned the facet to a trickle so users could see fewer and fewer movies. Not sure where they’re banking on getting funds now, but it won’t be from membership fees.

I like it just because it allows me the opportunity to watch movies I wouldn't normally pay for. I go alot on rainy days and sometimes watch back to back shows. Great value.

We started doing it as a family. As I posted earlier when we started it my daughter was finishing up Pharmacy school and living with us.
She moved out about year ago and bought a house. Her boyfriend got the pass about 2 months ago and the they go a lot. She still goes with us and sometimes with mama...They enjoy more B type Horror than I do.
