Andor Season 2 Discussion (First 3 Episodes Now Streaming)

Rebels, the wait is almost over. The new season of Andor releases tomorrow (4/22) night at 8pm CDT with the first three episodes. The consensus I read from early reviews before I muted Andor was season two is as good as, if not better than, season one.

Recap video of Season 1:
quote:
Thrillingly intricate, suspenseful, tragic and hopeful, it fulfills the promise of the galaxy far, far away, telling a uniquely nuanced, mature, and gripping story that’s at once distinct from, and yet inherently wedded to, the Skywalker Saga.
quote:
Andor is leagues beyond the rest of Disney's Star Wars slate, rejecting cheap nostalgia in favor of enriching the wider historical arc.
quote:
If Andor Season 1 set a gold standard for Star Wars storytelling, then Season 2 has achieved an entirely new level of perfection.
quote:
If Andor Season 1 was the match to light the fires of galactic Rebellion, then Andor Season 2 lights the fuse to the powder keg. It’s triumphant STAR WARS.

Crazy how quick I went from eyeroll to "No. Don't do it, man!" with Sirkis' character
He is so underrated

He gets his due credit for his mo-cap work, but people sleep on him playing himself. He also did a great job narrating The Hobbit and LOTR audiobooks. He goes 150% for the Gollum scenes.

All bs aside, this should be the goal for all of the tv stuff. If you want to make cheap nastalgia, make an animated series for kids.

I am so, so cautiously hopeful they don't mess this up. It's not even just the Disney thing, it's that so many great shows can't maintain their level of excellence. And yes, Andor was excellent.
I see the usual suspects are at it again

Gilroy teased the possible theatrical release of the first 3 episodes. Should be a great start to the season tomorrow.
That was his review from season 1. I put it there as a joke.
quote:
"It's been discussed. We've mixed [Episodes] 1, 2, and 3 to play theatrically. They do need a little bit of an extra mix. We mix differently for how we deliver normally, because people watch on their iPads, on their TVs — it’s 5.1 [aspect ratio]. If you’re mixing for theaters, it's not like a switch. It takes a couple hours or a day to do that. So we have [Episodes] 1, 2, and 3. If there was enough interest, I'm sure Disney would roadshow it at some point. Why not? I think they have interest in showing [Episode] 12 going into Rogue [One], but that depends on how the show does. They look good on a big screen."

I liked the show when I watched it live week to week, but I just binged it all again and it was so much better the second time around for me. So pumped for tomorrow.

Can't wait, but it kinda sucks to know where it will eventually end.

Agree. Watching one by one when it came out was great, but the rewatch was even better. So pumped for S2.

Why hasnt Tony Gilroy been approached about the new trilogy? He needs to do more SW projects. His storytelling is top notch

Hes worn out i think. They might have actually offered
quote:
“Man, I’ve been here for five and a half years, and then Rogue before that,” Gilroy said. “24 episodes. I think I’ve taken care of my patch of the garden pretty well, I think I’d like to try something else for a while.”
