Anyone else here a fan of Stripes with Bill Murray?

Just rewatched it today, the extended version. An amazing film that in my experience got a backseat to movies like Ghostbusters and Caddyshack (both gold tier comedy films).
Murray and Ramis definitely had great comedy chemistry, and throw in John Candy, Warren Oates, and some of the other talent in this movie, it's probably the best military comedy ever, rivaled only by Tropic Thunder.

1st half, up until graduation, is some of the best comedy writing ever. After, it’s an average movie.

The first half was awesome. It was like they had enough material for a great short movie but they had to fill out the running time so they kept going. The second half was not terrible, but it didn't come close to keeping up the quality of the first half.

For real though. 80's comedy with Murray and John Candy?
With that being said my favorite "Military" comedy will always be Major Payne.

Reminds me a bit of how Full Metal Jacket feels.

Recruiter: Have you ever been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor?
John Winger: Convicted? No.
Russell Ziskey: Never convicted.
