Wife and I watched this last night on Prime. Excellent movie of late ante-bellum and Civil War set in New Orleans and river parishes.
Stars Clark Gable, Yvonne de Clarlo and Sidney Poitier. Based upon a novel by Robert Penn Warren.

Filmed in the BR area. Supposedly the City Cafe in Plaquemines (never went there -- does it still exist?) had a a photo of Gable eating there, framed on the wall.

Parts were filmed at Ashland/Belle Helene plantation. I got to tour the house and grounds in the early 60s and the guide was still ecstatic over the celebrities he encountered.
